When there is smoke…it gets in the local rag.

Also, follow Andy Katz, he seems to get the breaking news.LINK

ESPN's Andy Katz previously reported that Central Missouri coach Kim Anderson, a Missouri alum, was also in the mix to replace Frank Haith -- who left last week for Tulsa.

Andy Katz, I promise you, will get the first buzz of reporting the hire…he always does.

But, local rags get a bit of nibbles to appease the fan base.

Parrish and Goodman broke everything in the UT search.

Well, they are tight with the UT administration…just like Forde is with Louisville. Katz usually gets the buzz for the big announcements.

I have been shocked at how tight lipped this whole process has been. Though, I guess Haith was out of left field as well with no leaks of it beforehand.

Leaks are not coming from you AD…they are coming from the coaches who are interested in the job. Katz has that access. Coach Cal only gives info to 2 people to break out in the media….Matt Jones of KSR and Andy Katz.

Why would Mizzou settle for this when they could have Marshall, Donovan, Calipari, or Phil Jackson?

It is a tough question. It could be worse though. We could get exactly who we wanted and then they could go 0-for-the-SEC.

You do realize stupid frick the Kansas City Star is Pro-kU, and enjoys dragging Mizzou through the mud when given every opportunity to do so. I encourage you to read the articles about our transition to the SEC, and this will help form a better opinion of this shitty newspaper. The Star doesn't know shite about Mizzou. In fact the coverage of Mizzou sports since our move to the SEC has been non-existent. The Star didn't even have a beat writer for Mizzou for almost a month. The Star may be published in Kansas City, MO, but it's the biggest beaker run operation on this side of the state. In short the Star knows nothing, and could be equated to Foxnews coverage

Honestly you should follow @Kilgore_n_KC he has been in the middle of this for awhile.

He's got Marshall coming, waiting until after the WSU Bball banquet tonight to leave.

The thing about Marshall is that I'm not sure he could survive at a big school that is heavily covered by the press let alone one that is about to be a part of something like the SEC Network - personality has always been the biggest knock against him that leads to a lot of friction with big time boosters who have every bit the ego a coach does as well as with an AD. The jabs he's taken against some opponents would get Slive all over him.

That's the conclusion I came to anyway when I researched him during our search (although I'd personally be willing to risk it, I'm not sure I'd like him). Maybe he'd fit at Mizzou but I think he'd step on too many feelings and get pretty beaten up by the press here in Knoxville. Jerry Green (who was run out of town in large part to being dickwad - dude was on losing streak and said "if fans don't like it they can go shop at Kmart") was more booster and media friendly than Marshall. Plus Green, to my knowledge didn't go after big name coaches and programs the way Marshall has (Lane Kiffin in his less than 1 yr tenure at UT attempted this and Slive smacked his arse down - Slive even went so far as to basically celebrate the fact that Kiffin was gone at the next media days and to my knowledge that's the only time Slive's down that).

At Wichita St. Marshall is getting pay and a free hand to do as he pleases without having to appease a soul. He'd have to be willing to hold his tongue a lot more at a bigger school and work on his rougher edges and his probably too old and too successful to give up the freedom to be himself - if he were hungrier he might change his tune on being a little less prickly.

Kilgore is connected to the Mizzou athletic dept and has leaked some information regarding Mizzou's respect for the Wichita State season celebration this evening. Sometime in the next couple days the Marshall hire will be announced. The reason it has been quiet is due to this celebration/team banquet.

I think his twitter account is @kilgore_n_kc or something like that.
