Although a Trojan fan (born/raised) I am a proud Southern Illinois Alumnus. Better known for our basketball prowess, SIU is ranked in the FCS top 25, and has made good progress in football lately. I expect us to compete well in this game, and although I expect Ole Miss to win, I wouldn't count the Dawgs out altogether. We have some weapons on both sides of the ball. Best of luck, and GO SOUTHERN GO!

SIU MEDIA GUIDE:
Southern Illinois Saluki Football

SIU FIGHT SONG: Go Southern Go!

The Salukis (1-0) come into Oxford ranked 15th in the FCS (Coaches) and 17th (Media) respectively. Led by Jr. QB Paul McIntosh, and a balanced running attack featuring Steve Strother and Iowa transfer Jewel Hampton, the Salukis are capable of sustaining long drives and putting numbers on the board.

They have a good chance of beating Ole Miss this weekend.

Ole Miss is without it's first and second string RB's, so that gives us a shot. Not sure if you'd consider BYU to be a very physical team, but I imagine a few of the Rebs might be banged up a little.

SIU is coming off of a 38-10 road win over SEMO, but I think we're a typically undersized FCS team, so that obviously favors Ole Miss.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to the game because I need something to get me out of the BYU induced funk.

It's win win for us.. If we win cool, we'll have a bit more confidence going into the Vandy game. If we lose then Nutt obviously doesn't know how to prep a team for the 100th time and should be fired..

SIU might be better than Vandy. Looking at the roster, which is peppered with players from familiar places like Prattville, Russellville,Homewood,Daphne,Hoover and Auburn (all in Alabama), I'm more confident that our kids have been coached well in High School and can play at a high level. Should be a great game.

One question: Are they better or worse than BYU? That is all I need to know.

Kind of like saying - if he beats me one more time, I'll leave him.

We don't play BYU, so all you need to know will go unanswered.

After Saturday, you will know whether or not SIU is better than Ole Miss or not though.
