We know that they can launch ballistic missiles as far as the Sea of Japan, but further than that, who knows. Maybe they can and just haven’t tried because they’re not completely batshit crazy.

Sounds about right.
People have to keep in mind that that these aren’t guys/gals that got their commercial license last month. If you fly for Delta you are ex/current military with thousands of hours or you’ve invested a ton into a civilian career and worked your way up similarly.
