re: Legendary Alabama QB Steve Sloan has passed away at the age of 79

Steve Sloan was a nifty quarterback and a good guy. Joab Thomas was the real culprit in not hiring Bobby Bowen. He did not understand the football culture at Alabama and did not care. I think he may have been an All State football player but did not chose to play football in the state of Alabama....

Alabama has won the second most basketball games in the SEC. Kentucky leads them by a few hundred....

The polls definitely had issues. The best team may not win in a 12 team play offs, but at least they will have their chance. Steve Spurrier said Bowden would have won more titles than anybody at Florida State if there was a play off system in place at the time. He may have been right. Bowden had...

Not only does it give teenagers a lot of clout, but it allows for other people to take advantage of them for their own interest and further complicate the situation. I do not think playing college sports should be a profession. I wonder is colleges will see it that way some day. ...

I think the timing was right to hire Kiffen. There are three or four reasons I felt that way, but a waste of time to discuss them now. ...

The NFL needs a farm system like baseball. College sports should be for amateurs. I know there has been money under the table forever in college sports, but at least there was some semblance of amateurism. I have been a fan all my life. The Harvard vs. Yale game is still a big deal to their fans...

In my opinion only one time players put their personal interest ahead of the team that may have cost us a National Championship. It could have even been subconscious on their part. I thought Allen, Foster and Humphries were not their usual selves when Clemson boat raced us with a freshman quarterb...
re: First off, I'm a milroe supporter, BUT it just seems like

I have the same feeling about Milroe that I had about Hurts when they both played at Alabama, i. e., they will never be top quarterbacks. I was surprised at Hurts success at Philadelphia. He looked similar to his play at Alabama last night and I fear his success may be short lived. I think Milroe...

Amarilla Tide is exactly right. I was born in 1940 and attended Alabama between 1958 and 1964 and there have only been two big mistakes made in hiring coaches at Alabama in my life time. They were both made when the president of the University either did not care about or did not understand the im...

We are in for some interesting times in the near future. I am not sure why JosieWales mentioned Ears Whitworth, but it gives me an opportunity to discuss those strange times for Alabama football. The time between Red Drew and Bryant were truly strange at Alabama. The president, Dr. Carmichael, at...

There will be some growing pains. Hope they don't last too long. I like the Devaney - Tom Osborne mentioned at Nebraska, but it did take Osborne three or four years to establish the dominance. His final teams were awesome as were Devaney's. ...

The number of solid teams in the SEC is lower than the recent past except for adding Texas and Oklahoma. I am not sure how Texas and Oklahoma will stack up week in and week out. With the addition of Missouri, Georgia and Oklahoma to the schedule I would not be surprised at three losses....

re: Sarkisians Offense at Bama and What made it Work

I thought the 2019 LSU offense was the best ever. The 2020 Alabama offense was even better. Am I right that an Alabama player won every individual offensive award that year? This included a wide receiver Heisman winner and a player drafted ahead of him at the same position (Waddle was hurt most o...

I agree with MySaban so I guess that makes me an idiot also. Alabama has the most knowledgeable football fan base in the country. The majority of posters agree with us. Is it possible to be knowledgeable and an idiot simultaneously? ...
