I don't think it's Davis not recruiting as well. He appears to be recruiting his arse off but right now a defensive tackles seem to be in high demand for a lot or top programs. At the end of the day you can spend a ton on one player that may or may not make a difference. But what happens if that one player tears an acl in fall practice and never contributes. Not to mention the domino effect it has when other players find out what he was paid and decide they need to renegot...
