This is sorta "demographics is destiny" talk but I truly believe the population movements to the Midwest and Pacific created their early athletics dominance and the current Southern (mostly SEC) excellence is due to a migration back into the Eastern Sun Belt and Deep South.
The ear...
Average college football game is 3-4 hours. Times about 14 a year. I don’t know how old you are so let’s say you’ve been watching Alabama football for 20 years. That’s about 980 hours. If you make $8 an hour that’s about 8 grand.
Eight grand over twenty years? Billionaire grin...
I would point to the Ole Miss game early in the season. It was embarrassing watching that shitshow
It was statistically the worst defensive performance in Alabama history to that point, but Golding one upped it with the 2022 Tennessee game. Also I think Mac Jones wins the Heis...
league like that would be a major boon to the south by allowing them to focus their resources where they’re best served while building an elite academic brand globally.
Totally separate budgets....
Giving up 34 points to that very poor Auburn offense might have been the low point for Golding, and that's really saying something....
They held down a high-powered OU offense led by a Heisman winner to help build a 28-0 lead.
That was a great start but wound up as not a great overall game....
Was the LSU game that year the last time Bama played a truly great defensive game against a high tier opponent?...
They definitely win in 2016 and 2021 with fewer injuries. The others I don't personally feel that injuries were the main problem. The headlining injury in 2022 was to Young but he was still carrying that team despite it. The worst problem that year and really in 2019 too was whatever traumatic brain...
As annoying as the Auburn loss was, it probably helped this team in the long term. They were in such terrible shape injury wise that I think missing the SEC championship was needed to get them healed up....
Really wished that Lane Kiffin could have kept his shite together for another week and guided Alabama's offense with the feel he'd developed over the back half of the season. Sark was a good playcaller for us but I don't think he really understood how to run what Kiffin was doing to maximize H...
That was 30+ years ago
How much do you think receivers have grown in 30 years? Football players were already huge in the 90s, it's not like he's talking about someone who was covering Don Hutson....
Joab Thomas was the real culprit in not hiring Bobby Bowen. He did not understand the football culture at Alabama and did not care
Thomas thought Alabama needed to win by running the program in a moral way. Sounds good on paper until you realize his ideal model for this was Penn St...
The defensive performance against LSU was one of the best moments of the Saban Era....
Something that doesn't get talked about enough is how even with Cade Foster putting on the kind of performance only he could, Bama easily would have won that Auburn game if they played Derrick Henry rather than Yeldon. It is extremely clear in retrospect that Henry should have been a day one starter...
Its a shame that we ran into a buzzsaw OSU team
That Ohio State team wasn't historically great or anything. They had been completely handled at home by 7-6 Virginia Tech and really did not deserve to be in the playoffs to begin with. Bama made every possible mistake in that game....
There were a lot of bad snaps today
There were too many, but what count as bad snaps yesterday would've gone on McLaughlin's highlight reel. Also they will not be playing on completely dead grass like that again this season. That might have had some effect....
I get it. I was in a fraternity at Bama and would never allow my son to be in one after that experience.
As someone who was not in a fraternity at UA, I would warn you that it really affects your social experience. So much of the social life on that campus runs through Greek Life...
Alexander should have had back to back rushing titles those years. He was one yard short in 2004 and Mike Holmgren simply would not give him a carry. Usually in the NFL if a player is close to a record like that, they just give him the ball every single play until he gets it. It was a major controve...
I earmarked my Yea Alabama donation for the LGBTQ+ Underwater Equestrian team....
If the TV market is still what you are after you have to target Duke, UNC and the biggest prize ND. I doubt they would all be interested.
I think the TV market logic has completely changed in the steaming era....
