I was in Columbus shortly after Urban Meyer was hired by Ohio State and I walked past him leaving a restaurant. I said “Go Gators”, and he gave me a smirk.

Yeah, Saban gave me the horn because I didn't go fast enough when the light turned green. Absolutely not shitting about that.

I was in line behind Pat Dye in a store as he was on his phone trying to convince someone on the other end not to sell his Colonial Bank stock.

I once flew on a plane from Atlanta to Philly with Bill Curry. Of course, he was in First Class, but he was kind enough to speak.

By chance, no.

In high school I dated Steve Spurrier’s niece, so I was around him a few times. I also attended a dinner with Bobby Bowden.

I ran into Coach O in Marietta, Ga a couple of years ago at a gas station. He had just got out of a rental car as I was coming out of the store. I said hello and asked if he was there for the Marietta kids. He said “yesssir!” I said “good luck coach.” He said “geaux tigas.” Then we parted ways and that is all there was to that encounter.

Saw Bear Bryant in 69 when my basketball team went to state tournament. We were walking up steps to Coleman and he was coming down. Was much taller than I expected. He stopped and talked to the team and wished us good luck. Also saw Bobby Bowden at airport in Tallahassee sitting with his wife. Went over and said hello. Very nice.

Matt Jones looked high as frick.

I had some classes with Matt back in the day and he always looked like that even when he was completely sober. The guy was so laid back smoking weed was probably like taking speed for him. He probably snorted mountains of coke just to work up the enthusiasm to do a load of laundry.

Marv Levy @ Harry Carey's in Chicago, Jim Tressel at a Season's 52 in Houston, and Lovie Smith on a flight to TPA. Marv Levy was as nice as you could imagine...didn't have time but minor small talk w/ the others.

In 1965 at Denny Stadium I was there to watch my brother play in the Alabama High School All Star Game. I ran into Bear Bryant in a isolated part of the stadium he stopped and talked to me like I was an old friend.( I was 17 years old at the time). I ran to Shug Jordan in Auburn several times and he always made me feel like he remembered me because my brother played at Auburn, he was a real gentleman. I sort of knew Terry Bowden he was a real butthole. I ran into Pat Dye at a hunting expo and he teamed up with me for a while maybe because I am a former college football player and sort of looked the part. We spent quite a bit of time together that day and he was a very humble person and made me feel important. I was waiting at an Auburn restaurant one night when Tommy Turberville came up an introduced himself and we talked a bit. I also met and talked to Sonny Smith at an event. Very nice guy and really enjoyed talking to him. Almost forgot I did some promotions with Gene Stallings and man was he a great guy, Also did some promotions with Bill Curry and I can’t say the same.

I was with my parents at Britlins cafeteria in Birmingham. We saw Bobby Bowden and his wife. My mom went to Woodlawn High School with him. He was a few years behind her but he knew my uncle. He couldn't have been nicer. He insisted on buying our meal. Very impressive and humble guy !
