The city of Jacksonville and the Jaguars have agreed a $1.4B stadium upgrade.
Current time-line from JagsWire
Construction begins: Feb. 2025
2025 season: In Jacksonville with 60K+ stadium capacity
2026 season: In Jacksonville with approximately 43.5K stadium capacity
2027 season: Away from Jacksonville
Renovations complete and facility opening: Aug. 2028
So Athens and Gainesville it is, it would seem for 2026 and 2027, with 2025 possibly being impacted as well.

Another good post from you, Murph (notice the "S" is missing?). :) Keep this up, and your cranium molecules will multiply before you know it!

Which Florida schedule is harder? 2024 or 2025?
Is there any chance Napier saves his job? Hiring a new coach for that 2025 schedule would be brutal as well.

Every year around the Florida game, the Georgia beat writers try to convince us how cool it would be to play home and home with Florida and take the game out of Jacksonville, just for the sake of page views and click bait. But I've yet to met a person in real life who thought it was a good idea.

I have, and every of them falls into one of the below categories:
-Old and fuddy duddy and wants to be able to scoot over to Athens for the game instead of having to drive to Florida
-They've never actually attended the game in Jax before
-As a m,atter of fact they don't go to ANY game that isn't in athens (or atlanta)
-They don't give the slightest frick at all about history and tradition
-They draw the line in the sand of "if that's what kirby wants then I want it too! Kirby is always right!" which is logically silly.
All of these people should be ignored.

2026 and 2027 should be at Daytona Speedway.

Well, you’ve met one now. There are a lot of us out here and we aren’t all old or silly. My name is SaturdayNAthens and I and most of my bulldawg buddies want the game moved to home and home. The game was fun in Jax - I haven’t missed this game in over 40 years. I’m a UGA season ticket holder and have been since the early 80s. I attend almost all away games too, but it’s time for a change.
We need this game in Athens every other year. Kirby is right. We are missing a prime recruiting day and the university and Athens are missing another big payday. A poll taken a year or so ago showed that something like 70% of Georgia fans want the game moved so you are in the minority. Move it!

The university gets paid to go to Jacksonville.
They make it worth UGAs while.
You know this.

The school does but the Athens merchants don’t get paid. In recent years what was once a great game in Jax has turned into a miserable experience. From horrible traffic management issues, very expensive reserved parking, surly stadium staff workers, incredibly long slow lines at concessions and a don’t give a damn attitude by the city of Jax unless the contract is up for renewal it’s become a real hassle to attend. I’d miss the week of partying on the Georgia coast but I can have just as much fun in Athens without all the issues that Jax has.

So you and I have our disagreements, but I feel ya on this. I thought it was just me getting older.
I have friends that live around Jacksonville and they're the only reason why I even consider attending.

It’s become so bad I’ve been tempted to stop going and I never miss a game. If not for our love of UGA football my pals and I would probably have just stayed at the beach condo and watched on tv

Maybe I've just spent too much time in Gainesville. There's a really cool sinkhole where you can hike and The Oaks Mall is still hanging on, but other than that there's not much to the town.
On top of that, Georgia-Florida weekends traditionally have been one of the most memorable part of the UGA student experience. And football, above all else, was designed to add to the student experience.
If you truly think that 70 percent of Georgia fans want the Florida game to become a home and home, I would call you really old or really delusional or both.

Do we want to include the merchants in Saint Simon's, sea island, Tybee, Brunswick?
The revenue generated on the coast for the week is greater than the revenue generated in Athens for the weekend.

It isn't about you.
You will one day die.
Jax has been around since before you were born.

I’d love a home and home for a few years

Its a lot safer in Athens than walking around that Jax stadium after dark. UGA loves to party and rivals are welcome to join in.

It’s been around since my Grandpaw made his annual trip to the game. I know that it’s tradition but when that tradition has gotten so difficult to enjoy it’s time for a change.
Plus by going home and home UGA gets another ever other year recruiting game with an SEC rival. And Athens merchants and UGA have nice paydays. Athens is a lot more fun than Jax or St Simons after dark too.
