what happened to him anyway? Isn't he supposed to be the 'ace' for the Vols this year? Is he out for the year?

Might be back in a few weeks. But if he has another set back they’ll shut him down.

Forearm and elbow tightness and soreness after last 2 starts. Started left game with tightness and was out for 3 weeks. Then comes back again and leaves early again with tightness and soreness in elbow and hasn’t returned since.

He was our Friday guy, but Beam was supposed to be our Ace this year.

Not officially, but Vitello hasn’t said how long or when he will return.

Kirby should have been the call, not Sneed

from watching the vols this year, their pitching is where they're lacking

They have some dudes that can mash the ball but their pitching isn't remotely close to what it has been the past few years

Outside of Beam, they have no true weekend staters this year, so far, imo

Anderson and Vitello don’t mess around with arm issues. They will not chance a kids, future or health to win games.

And that’s crazy. Beam was so good his freshman year and all of sudden this year he’s been inconsistent. The talent is there, and he will be a high draft pick, but I don’t understand it.

I know a lot of people don’t like Chase Burns, but he would most definitely have been a Friday night guy had he stayed. Also sucks that Holman picked LSU over Tennessee, and he would have had a better season had he picked UT. Thought we had picked the Vols as close as friends him and Beam are.

I just hope our pitching gets hot going into the regionals.

Lew, why do you think Vitello don’t use Kirby more than he does? He has pitched very well when he is brought in. Prior to this year he would only come in for 1-2 batters and then out. This year he has pitched extremely well when he has been extended. I know Sneed throws hard, but I honestly think Kirby is our best pitcher out of the pen.

The NCAA record is 58 games, still has a ways to go. Robin Ventura holds the NCAA record for the longest hitting streak in college baseball history, with 58 games in 1987.

Or Dave Van Horn. Remember when DVH pitched Kevin Kopps like he did? DVH horn try to ruin Kopps career his last year at Arkansas.
