During his post-practice press conference on Wednesday, LSU coach Brian Kelly revealed that defensive tackle Maason Smith has been dealing with an ankle sprain during practice.

Kelly said they are not overly concerned with the injury but that they want to be careful with Smith as continues to knock off rust after being out for a year.
quote:

"He's been banged up a little bit, Kelly said. It's nothing that we're overly concerned with. There is no structural damage to any joints or things of that nature."

"Look, he's been out for a year. Everything hurts a little bit more after coming back into it. We have to be careful with him."

"He had an ankle sprain, nothing that we were too concerned with but were concerned with everything when you have a player of his caliber so we're going to be careful with him."

The crappy thing about the sprain after the knee is you have to be concerned about conditioning. The next sentence I will refrain from writing as I don’t want to put that on him. We need him this season.

Boy, I hope the fear of getting hurt mindset ain't creeping in on him. What you fear, you bring near.
