Thanks for the suggestions.
I know people complain about sharks every year but last year was noticeably worse. Lost count of the number of big snapper that we lost to sharks.

Bigger ones will bite your finger off. They get big in the northeast and they actually have tournaments for them. 15.39 pounds won 25k in 2022 tournament in Long Island, NY. I’ve caught a bunch in gulf but none more then a few pounds. ...

5-10 east/se , 1’ tides, and water temps in mid to upper 70’s. Winds wed-Fri should push in lots of clean water. Looks promising.
Plan to hit Delacroix Sat and Sun. Throw top waters early and live/vodoo/Berkley Rattle shrimp under a cork after. Will post report.

Short version- NOAA has been over estimating red snapper catch totals by 40% for years leading to shorter seasons. This should surprise no one who has snapper fished recently.
How badly have they messed up the cobia and amberjack counts?

We snapper fished Friday and didn’t do very well. Current was ripping. Landed a 40lb aj which I had to throw back. First time all year we didn’t have to deal with sharks.
Hooked about a 100lb yellow fin in west delta. It hit a pinfish on a snapper bottom rig about 100’ down. We fought for 45 min...

How big of a camp do you want. They have 2 bedroom apartments that come with a slip at pirates cove/pirates landing (one of those places by the coast guard station) for around 200. Taxes/condo fees/insurance are around 1k a month. ...

The LDWF can’t stop the Pogey boats. The State Legislature has to do this and they didn’t have the votes last year.
