I don't speak Russian, but I'm guessing the lady in the video is saying that his chain and shoes were rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

I’m watching that on an iPhone so I can’t really see it well but that is an incredible way to perish. I wonder what the compensation will be for this Slavic dude’s family or children if he had any. The Russian’s are a pretty blunt crude kind of lot so it might be a “tough break” kind of response. What would an American soccer player’s family get on an “act of nature” type death like this?

Why in the hell would you be "entitled" to anything?
user avatar
They would get whatever the insurance policy they purchased paid. Why would anyone give the family money for being struck by lightening? The desire for entitlements reaches new heights every day.

I’m aware that a life insurance type settlement would be due even I’m worth a little cash dead. Y’all are so smug that you don’t believe an American pro soccer player would get something monetarily from the owner or city they played for if they got struck dead by lightning playing a game? That would be Bernie Sanders type crap in yalls opinion?

That’s so Russian

I assumed from the title that it is the Russian player who was vaporized

Video was shot with a potato, however the guy is clearly lying on the ground after the lightning strike. Unless "vaporized" means lying motionless on the ground, then its a 100% accurate video description.

That is why we do safety stand down on construction sites. According to National Geographic in the US you have a 1 in 3000 chance of being struck in your lifetime and 1 in 700,000 chance in dying from it in any given year. I wouldn't live in fear but still it makes sense not to stand in an open field during a thunderstorm. This poor guy may have been hit by a bolt from the blue from a storm 10 miles away. From National Geographic "Flash Facts about Lightning".

If only he hadn't worn the chain that day. Those billion volts/100,000 amps wouldn't have killed him if it hadn't been for that chain. We should ban all necklaces.

Looked this up, the kid is in a medical induced coma and expected to recover fully.

Quite a far cry from vaporized

But you gotta admit, vaporized sounds way cool, Lou

Lazy bastard Leo Headline translates to: Moment of lightning strike ? Today, the condition is stable, cardiogram is normal, severe burns at the entrance and exit of lightning discharge. There is no threat to life, according to doctors.

Yeah, well, I prefer to take Leo's word for it, so as far as I'm concerned the dude is vaporized.
user avatar
Larry could work for CNN with the sensationalism in that headline

The dude wasn't vaporized. What I see from the poor quality video is a splash of mud add grass after the lighting grounded. The player is lying on the ground. It's hard to make out in the blurry video but he is there.

My Grandmama gave me that Chain

Too bad the chain wasn't touching the ground. If so he'd probably be alive and well.

Looks like 1.21 jigawatts. If only he had a flux capacitor instead of a chain.

If you idiots, mainly speaking to Larry, would just use the translate option on twitter you’d know he wasn’t “vaporized” and he’s alive and going to recover.
