A source told ESPN's Joe Schad that former USC coach Lane Kiffin is interviewing Thursday to be the new offensive coordinator at Alabama. Former OC Doug Nussmeier left Alabama on Thursday to take on the same position at Michigan.

Kiffin was fired by USC in September after a 62-41 loss at Arizona State. He was 28-15 overall with the Trojans following a one-year stint at Tennessee, where he was 7-6.

Prior to the Sugar Bowl, Nick Saban met with Kiffin to "to share ideas and exchange ideas ... [for] professional development." Saban had this to say about Kiffin:
quote:

"Lane is a really good offensive coach, and I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for him."

"Just to come in and brainstorm a little bit to get some professional ideas with our guys is a really positive thing."
Alabama fans must love this....
