Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports
Dan Wolken with USA Today Sports says two coaches from the SEC could be possible candidates for the head coaching job at Texas if Charlie Strong is fired at the end of the season.

Those two are Florida’s Jim McElwain and Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze.
quote:

The key, according to one person with knowledge of the industry, is what happens at Texas. If Charlie Strong can’t save his job, Texas is expected to pursue Houston coach Tom Herman. But if that marriage falls apart for whatever reason, it could trigger a series of dominoes that impact multiple top-25 programs. Among the names that could be mentioned in connection with Texas are Florida’s Jim McElwain, Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze, Washington’s Chris Petersen, North Carolina’s Larry Fedora and California’s Sonny Dykes. It’s also likely Florida State's Jimbo Fisher, Fedora and Freeze will be in play at LSU if interim coach Ed Orgeron doesn’t do enough to be elevated permanently.

No chance for either. Just a writer picking things out of thin air.

Zero chance. McElwain isn't even a possibility on his own terms & Texas wouldn't even interview Freeze.

Yo Texas, please take Bret from us. He will rule rhe Big 12. Trust us.

The only way Hugh Freeze is leaving Ole Miss is if they fire him.

We are not going to let y'all into THE SEC. Texas AMC, Arkansas, AND Missouri will keep this from happening. Nebraska and Colorado would keep this from happening were they in THE SEC. You shot yourselves in the foot. Y'all pooped in y'all's mess kit. DIE.

Your high.. Texas would be the minute they wanted. Just hope we don't demand they kick your punk arse out. Bitches don't have an opinion, have you forgotten why you ran in the first place?

Freeze wouldn't go to Texas over Ole Miss. He might have 15 years ago.

If Texas has their sights set so high, then why do they keep shooting them selves in the foot?

That is a joke. UT people here laughed at this. Wouldn't even acknowledge this ignorant statement. Best job in cfb not going to Hugh Freeze :rollonthedamngroundlaughing:

Half of those names mentioned are complete pipe dreams. Chris Petersen? Better add Bill Belichick to the list...

PLEASE let Freeze go there. The second he arrives, both his new school and his old one get hit with NCAA sanctions resulting from the 2013 Ole Miss class and the 2016 Baylor...I mean Texas class.
