The Clarion Ledger is reporting that Ole Miss defensive back Chief Brown injured himself during an offseason workout and as a result will likely need to miss the 2014 season.
quote:

Coach Hugh Freeze confirmed that Brown tore his Achilles, an injury that typically requires a six to eight-month rehab.

"Very sad," Freeze said.

Brown, a redshirt junior from Winona, moved to Ole Miss' nickel corner (husky) position in the spring and was expected to be Tony Conner's primary backup there this fall.
Last season Brown finished with 38 tackles (19 solo), a fumble recovery and an interception. He played strong safety and free safety.
