Former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik has been hired as North Carolina's defensive coordinator. He will replace former Tar Heels DC Vic Koenning who was fired at the end of the season. Per CBSSports.com:
quote:

“I'm thrilled to join Coach Fedora's staff and I appreciate the trust he and athletic director Bubba Cunningham have in me,” said Chizik. “It is a tremendous opportunity to coach at one of the most prestigious Universities in the country and live in Chapel Hill. I'm committed to the student-athlete experience they expect at Carolina, and look forward to developing our players into the best they can be in all areas of their lives.”

Chizik, of course, is the former coach at Auburn; he (well, Cam Newton) led the Tigers to a national title in 2010. Chizik was fired following the 2012 season and hasn't coached since, spending last season as an analyst for SEC Network.

Tacky arse comment by cbssports.

(Well, Cam Newton)

You don't see people minimize Mack Browms achievements by inserting Vince Young into the discussion every time.

Give the Chiz his due.
