Enjoy it Mississippi fans. You've been a patient group, and now it's your time to shine. Mississippi State and Ole Miss are on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the second straight week, with a story that features both schools. Bulldogs QB Dak Prescot was the only one to make the cover...

Dear Mississippi,
I've always liked Ole Miss and Mississippi State fans that I've met over the years. You've always been very cordial and humble and almost always complimentary and even openly envious of Alabama's football team, both the current iterations, as well as our storied history. For that reason, I'm actually quite happy for your two schools and your fans. I can really appreciate your exuberance, that is quite frankly bordering on euphoria. If Alabama is not going to be the team out of the west (which looks to be a certainty unless something dramatic changes with the team), I would really love for one (or hell, both if only loss is in the egg bowl)to the make playoffs and win a championship.

I say all that to follow up with a warning for you Mississippians. I doubt anyone outside of message board posters using the anonymity of the internet to feign arrogance to see what its like to be a Power 4 fan, but I swear to God, I better not hear one of you bastards say, "Thank God for Alabama." You can have your championship but you will not take away 49th place from us. You will always be 50th and that's just how it's got to be. Thanks for understanding and good luck to you both. I'll be rooting for you (except State vs. Bama, of course) the rest of the way.
