Last November, Georgia Tech student Ryan Gregory Pickren hacked into Georgia’s website and edited the school’s Saturday calendar to read “Get arse Kicked by GT” ahead of that weekend’s rivalry football game. This funny prank at the time, may cost him. The 21-year old Pickren faces up to 15 years in prison and $50,000 in fines...
quote:

A Superior Court judge issued a bench warrant for Pickren’s arrest on Dec. 22, and the student surrendered the next day at the Clarke County Jail.

He was released later in the day after posting a $5,000 bond.

According to Pickren’s LinkedIn profile, he is from Oldsmar, Fla., and currently living in Atlanta while attending Georgia Tech. He is majoring in computer engineering with a minor in computer science, according to the profile.

Georgia state law states that a person is guilty of computer trespass when they alter, damage or in any way cause the malfunction of a computer, computer network or computer program regardless of how long it occurs.

Conviction of the felony offense is punishable by a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Dude.

Get a grip people. 15 years is the maximum he can receive. He'll get probation and a fine. For all of you complaining about our country, you're the reason it sucks.

The maximum sentence in a criminal statute is a splashy headline but a rare reality. That statute covers a ton of possible crimes, so the upper sentencing range has to be broad.

Ryan's family is full of LSU Tigers. Ryan's sister started a gofundme account to cover his legal expenses. Check it out. Geaux Tigers!

How can one be good enough to break in and not good enough to cover their tracks. Once again the criminal mind gets caught by wanting others to know how awesomer it is.
