UPDATE: Penn State offered James Franklin the head coaching position but according to ChatSports NCAA, Vanderbilt matched Penn State’s offer and also included guarantees about improvements to Vandy’s facilities. Franklin will have a tough decision to make.


Original Article: The Tennessean.com is reporting that Vanderbilt coach James Franklin will be offered the Penn State head coaching position.

According to Coachingsearch.com, Franklin interviewed with Penn State on Sunday, and on Tuesday morning the Twitter accounts of Vanderbilt coordinators Bob Shoop, John Donovan, and receivers coach Josh Gattis were following Penn State commitments.

Franklin originally is a Pennsylvania native and played college football at East Stroudsburg (Pa.). In three seasons at Vanderbilt, he has compiled a 24-15 with 2 bowl wins.

Good for him. He is a great young coach! Tremendous passion for the game. Love his enthusiasm. He will do great things at Penn State. Watch out Big 10. Awesome that he has this opportunity to go home.
