ESPN‘s Chris Low Says That Clemson “Owns The SEC”
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
Yes, Clemson is a new powerhouse in college football. Yes, Clemson has beat Bama. But "owning the SEC"...? ESPN‘s Chris Low has a new article naming college football’s “schedule superlatives” where he says that Clemson “owns the SEC”...
quote:

For the second straight season, Clemson has two nonconference games against SEC foes — Texas A&M at home and South Carolina on the road. Dabo Swinney is 13-5 against SEC teams since the start of the 2012 season, which includes five wins over South Carolina, three wins over Auburn, two wins over Alabama and wins over Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M.

Since 2012... He's obviously right. Doesn't mean they'd finish in the top 4 if they were actually in the conference and being forced to make a week in, week out grind where even schools on post season ban can fill a stadium and throw a couple of 5* at you.

Pretty sure Clemson would be just fine if they were in the SEC right now given their talent.

They would do no worse than Georgia. Clemson vs Georgia for the SEC East crown every year would be a great division race.

Dawgs lead series 42-18. Beat them 45-21 last time we played. Let’s hold off on “owning” the sec talk

12-5 since 2012 is actually pretty impressive. Yeah, South Carolina makes 5 appearances, but the rest are upper tier SEC teams.

Clemson is very good right now...They beat LSU in a late 4th qtr bowl game that started all of it.. I blame Les Miles and 4th and Chavis
user avatar

They converted something like a 4rth and 13 deep in their territory that game. 4rth and chavis lost that game for us.

Take South Carolina out the mix and he's 8-5 against the SEC. Still, Clemson is the NEW dynasty. Bye-bye bama.

Why pick 2012? Why not since he was a head coach back in 2008? He owned the SEC last year, but cherry picking a certain time frame will skew the result

Clemson also owns the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac 12 at the moment.

I remember SC having five wins in a row over Dabo 2009-2013

And now Clemson has 5 in a row over Scar, going for 6 this year

IF Clemson and LSU swapped schedules this year, LSU would be in the playoffs and Clemson would not. FACT. Anyone can win a game, or several. It's the fact that you have to do it nearly every week that's difficult.
user avatar

So if we swapped schedules, Clemson would've lost to Alabama 29-0 & LSU would've beat them 44-16? Nothing to do with personnel or coaching or a team's fight & will to win; everything to do with schedules? That's ridiculous.

I always thought Chris Low was a fat arse and a dumb arse. Nothing written here has changed my mind.

I mean they're really good right now, they're supposed to be owning everybody right? But the rest of the ACC is complete garbage regardless and everybody knows it.

who won 2014 UGA, Clemson game?

Who's won 2 national championships since that game?

Low is dumb. Alabama is 57-5 over the same time span vs the SEC including 6-0 in the post season. Also Clemson's record vs Bama is 2-2, so let's not forget the losses.

He said SEC, not Bama.

I blame Les. That 2012 Peach Bowl started this crap.
user avatar
JETigER58 months
Les threw on all three downs to try to seal the 2012 peach bowl win. that should have been Zach's last game because he should have started the 1/9/12 game.

A more accurate statement would be: "As of now, Clemson owns Alabama."

Ok, no. You know how Clemson always has to sneak out a win or two in the ACC every year? Well i have to believe those would be loses against an SEC team. Yeah, even the best SEC teams have close games, but it is against superior talent to what Clemson is dealing with week in and week out. The best SEC teams survive a gauntlet of a schedule full of worthy opponents week after week. They do not have 3 or 4 weeks of powder puffs to recover before their next big game... Attrition plays a part in this equation. How many times has LSU been mentally and physically decimated by bama and had a "hangover" the next week. Clemson never has to deal with that until they are already in the playoffs/championship.

"They do not have 3 or 4 weeks of powder puffs to recover before their next big game... " lmao, right! The 4 OOC FCS teams SEC teams play plus the arkansas, Ole Miss, Vandy, South carolina, Mizzou, and Tennessee games are just BRUTAL!
