Did Stanford's David Shaw Joke About Satellite Camps Rip SEC & ACC?
Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports
Hmm...Stanford head coach David Shaw's joke about the much talked about satellite camps seems to take a shot at the SEC, no?

Surprising comment from the laid-back Shaw. But FYI, Stanford's current roster has 17 players from states in the Southeast.

I am sure I will catch downvotes, but he isn't wrong. Not as far as football players are concerned, at least. Now if he meant "person" rather than "student-athlete", then he is a jerk.

4 people from my graduating class went to Stanford. From a public school

Does anyone in the southeast really give a damn about Stanford?

I sure a crap don't want to see you trying to recruit here in the South then.

Good thing for Shaw they bend the rules for football.

That's a typical, elitist statement from someone not in the South. It's pretty ignorant. But keep turning out those tissue-paper soft players to the NFL, Shaw. And any time you want a real college football challenge, come coach in the SEC.

Stanford football players are not all geniuses. They lower their standards considerably to remain relevant in football. So this is hypocrisy is what it is.

Of course they aren't, but even lower standards for athletes is still pretty freaking high.

It isn't a slight on the sec or acc that is just a true statement on the high scores needed to get into Stanford.

Yip, those 22 ACT's are hard to come by...

Aubby57, there are better ways to say that, if that's truly what he is trying to say. I don't buy it. It's a purposeful snub. He comes off as an arrogant idiot when 20% of his own team is from the southeast. Stanford does have some very high enrollment standards, but I'll bet they're not the same for football players. After all, Mr. Shaw was able to get in on a football scholarship.

Sadly correct for him. Still, he's a damn good coach for continuing to win with such difficult admission standards.
