I'm ok with that. Sounds reasonable to me. Any reasonable Bama fan should agree. Respect their decision.

CFB Playoff Chairman Explains Why Georgia Is Ahead Of Alabama In Latest Rankings Maks sense. Larry!

And it doesn't really make a difference because LSU & UGA will most likely win out and play each other in Atlanta. If LSU beats the dog shite out of UGA, then Bama easily moves into that spot. Minnesota beating tOSU is the only wild card.

Baylor has the 3rd or 4th ranked SOS and they are 13

Umm... Baylor's SOS is #45.

If the process is valid and not tainted then why explain anything!

I think Minnesota should be #4, going off the Committee’s standards.

They got beat. So, no.

Alabama...the only school to get rewarded for losing. One Gump coworker said Bama’s getting in and will stomp LSU’s arse next game. I said “I’ll take that bet”
user avatar

Yah, I'd buy a ticket to that. LSU's going to score 40+ in a playoff game vs Bama. If Bama can score 41, God bless 'em.

Their explanation soesn't hold water. LSU shoud've been #1 2 weeks ago, based on best wins. This week, Ohio State wins....drop one spot. Bama loses....drop 2 spots. They have 5 sided mouths and talk out of every one of them.

Alabama should be gone, absent a lot of failures. If things hold, they won't even be in a conference championship. It would be really sweet (and a travesty) for Bama to have a bye while LSU and Georgia duke it out in the conference championship.

I swear that's already happened.

Did you just copy and paste this from 2011?

Won't matter when LSU beats Georgia in the SEC Championship, and Alabama moves back up to 4. Then, the rematch is set, and that is what the committee wants to see, for ratings.

exactly...hope we blow them out even more this time

This. They are preparing to give Bama their traditional golden ticket. As long as Bama keeps winning, the committee can justify keeping them at 5, and by setting the 2 SEC divisional leaders in front of them, they've practically guaranteed them the mulligan. This has little to do with UGA's SOS and more to do with setting up Bama's playoff berth. Of course, Auburn might take the power away from the committee...

A 1 loss Pac 12 conference champ with a top ten win is a better win then Bama’s 1 top 25 win over Auburn. OU also plays two top 25 teams in their last 3 regular season games, three top 25 teams if you count the conference championship. You really think they’d leave out two conference champions for a team that couldn’t win their own division?

Rob Mullens: "We ranked UGA ahead of Alabama because they beat #11 Florida and #16 Notre Dame." Also Rob Mullens "We ranked Bama #5 and Minnesota #8, even though Minnesota just beat #9 Penn State." This committee/playoff format is becoming an absolute joke.

Maybe Minnesota should lose to USCe if they want to get into the playoffs.

But Bama’s loss is more impressive than UGA’s. Can’t we just go back to the tried and true eye test?
user avatar
TigerStripes3053 months
This will be the argument when we beat UGA
user avatar
The problem with the eye test is that everyone's eyes are different.

Just keep thinking that for a few more weeks.......

That’s sad. Bama’s schedule is so pathetic.

So is Baylor's and so is the PAC12 and so is Clemsons but yet you only want to penalize 1 team? Your agenda is showing.
user avatar
Inside the Eye53 months
Agreed that neither Clemson nor the Pac 12 champion have played a great schedule, but they will have at least made it to their conference championship, which is more than you can say for bama.
user avatar
DoubleDown53 months
@Inside the Eye, I see your point but I don't necessarily agree. We've already established that not all conferences are build the same. Oregon would have lost to Auburn (which assuming Bama beats), so they're out. Utah would have a bad loss to Southern Cal whereas Bama's would be a loss to #1 or #2 LSU. Bama gets in since it's loss looks less shitty.

Wins > Losses

I dunno...Ohio State has been shelved by a bad loss for a couple of years. If things are close maybe wins count more than losses but let's look at this. Alabama has a high quality loss...the best loss on the board, beat one top 25 team, and beat South Carolina. UGA only has the two top 25 wins and lost to the team Alabama beat. Makes little sense to have them over Bama now.
user avatar
idlewatcher53 months
lol you're really pimping a win over USCe?
user avatar
Crimson1st53 months
idlewatcher, please slow down and read what I said. I'm pimping the USCe win specifically when it comes to like opponents withUGA specifically and having them ranked higher than Bama. Overall, no I'm not pimping the win BUT in a direct comparison, not only is LSU light years better than USCe...as in Bama's loss is eons better, but Bama beat the team UGA lost to. Every word I said in both posts is factual.

The committee needs to keep that same thinking later this year, when Bama’s only good wins will be TAMU, who was ranked 24th at the time, and where ever a 3-loss Auburn will be ranked when they play.
user avatar
Mahootney53 months
Good. But it should have been an easy discussion. Baka hasn’t beaten anybody.
user avatar
shoelessjoe53 months
The logic of why Bama ever backs into the playoffs after not playing in SECCG needs to be discussed. A team is rewarded for not winning their own division in their conference?
user avatar
Neauxla_Tiger53 months
@shoelessjoe The worst part is that it PUNISHES the team that does win the West. Whoever wins (whether its LSU, or Auburn recently) has to go play an extra game and risk losing or risk injuries, while Bama sits at home and goes to the playoffs anyway.

Guys, Bama won't get in unless like 5 puzzle pieces fall their way. Y'all are being paranoid over nothing right now.
