Mason, a former defensive coordinator at Stanford, said in a statement that "no one knows our defense and what we can accomplish with this defense more than I."
Former offensive coordinator Karl Dorrell and defensive coordinator David Kotulski were fired after the Commodores went 3-9 this fall in the first season of Mason’s Vanderbilt tenure.
Ludwig was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach the last two years at Wisconsin while working for Gary Andersen, who left last month to take over Oregon State’s program.
