According to expense reports obtained by, Alabama spent $2.56 million on its trip to the College Football Playoff semifinals in New Orleans.

Ohio State spent $4.4 million and Oregon $3.8 million on two CFB Playoff trips.

No school spent more money on a single playoff game than Alabama, which accumulated almost $2.6 million in expenses for its semifinal loss to Ohio State in nearby New Orleans. The Buckeyes spent about $558,000 less than Alabama despite traveling from a farther distance.

Interesting... the revenue structure is kind of tough to wrap your head around, but it seems expenses were covered by the college football playoff (see note 4)
