What makes you think we aren’t having 2 RBs in this class? Zeus tore an ACL, he didn’t die.

Nah man everyone knows ACL tears keep you out for minimum 12 months. That’s what madden taught me.

But for real if Murray, Gurley, and Chubb can all re-emerge from their tears in such short time there’s no reason to think that Zeus won’t be ready to roll by game 2-3 next year.

The terminology for medical redshirt is just stupid.

It is basically used for a 6 year football player.

Considering an elite back is going to look long and hard at a 3 and out, there is no point to even bring forward a medical redshirt option. It is highly unlikely that he stays over 4 years.

Agreed. I was simply responding to his comment rather than arguing the validity of the reference. If he was indeed unable to play next year, it would simply be a redshirt, but as you and others have pointed out, most RBs don't make it to the 4 year mark if they're worthwhile, and even fewer make it to 5. If he's ready to inherit snaps at any point next year, he likely sees the field...

We can all say that Chubb was back last year as far as playing, but you’re lying to yourself if you think his ability was back. This year, he is finally back. He speed and cuts took two years to return.

So, yeah I think Zeus plays next year sparingly. But no way we get our 5*s moneys worth out of him next year.

Most people are saying Cook is overrated as far as stars go. That leaves only Swift and Holyfield as our tried and tested big bruiser backs. Hope those two stay healthy or we are looking at issues at the RB position.

If you know all that, you know it's been discussed for hours in the Recruiting Thread where it belongs. Drama queen.

Chubb tore his PCL with MCL, LCL, and PLC injuries as well. Different injury from a surgical perspective and rehab perspective.

Love the illogical jumps you make

1. Zeus won't be able to contribute meaningfully next year (likely wrong)

2. Cook is "overrated" and therefore won't contribute (also probably wrong)

3. I guess Herrien isn't worth a mention?

You are creating a roster problem where there isn't one. Some of y'all need to take a lap and try again.

Yes. If we lose our top 3 running backs to injury, and our other top 5 RB in next year’s class ends up being overrated then we will only have a guy left who is averaging 5 ypc over his career.

It’s a shame, because so many other teams would be fine if this sort of injury plague hit them.

Holyfield, Swift and Cook will be just fine in the running game next year.

I think Holyfeld is gonna be good for us.

I'd guess he'll be out 9-12 months unfortunately

Most likely that he has the surgery at Duke or OrthoCarolina. Courson takes over rehab once he enrolls early. If you find your self needing surgery, there are much worse places you could be than North Carolina.

We are 4 deep without zamir. No need to sign another when he may be ready by Fall camp

No worries.

Agree to disagree if there is juco/transfer talent available.

We need to look at all options. You can never have too many options at tailback. You and I have both seen the worst (Branden Smith and Brandon Boykin being primary RB options in conference games).

You idiots, we’re not singning another RB because we don’t need to, especially in smaller class and so many more important needs. White will be fine.

Anybody who could help us next year will be a major target or commit for another major program. No point in taking a chump for depth.

Swift, Holyfield, Herrien, Cook... pretty sure they can hold down the fort for a few games if Zeus isn’t 100% for the first couple of games.

Was 2013 that long ago with our top 2 backs out and we were relying on JJ Green and Brendan Douglass to lead us to consecutive losses to Mizzou and Vandy?

You can never have too many backs.

Adding another RB this year takes a spot away from another position. I’ll take my chances with the 5 RBs we have on roster/committed than take away a spot from the DL or at CB. And seriously, our QB depth is FAR MORE worrisome than at RB. Add another QB, if you ask me.
