The DSOR was a sloppy game this year and auburn won big; but despite what many may say, the game was very winnable for UGA.

If we flip just 3 instances(of many) of poor play/bad decisions this game would be MUCH closer than one would think.

-Mecole fumbling the ball which they ended up scoring on.
-UGA turnover, again auburn scored on.
-Dropped TD pass by UGA

If the above wouldn’t have happened it would be 26-24 AU and that’s adding our sloppy play the whole game. Now we are pissed and are going to be disciplined as ever. Auburn is coming in with big heads and looking forward the CFP and a possible rematch with Clemson. UGA will come out strong and disciplined, an injured Karryon will not have a game like last if he plays at all. We will pressure the QB and will win an SECCG.

DAWGS on top 28-16

I must've missed the blocked punt by AU. They roughed our punter one time. We had a leaping penalty on a punt. We muffed a punt that they recovered.

But I just can't remember a blocked punt.

I was camping and didn’t watch most of the game. Someone told me we had a blocked punt.

ETA: was it a kick return that was botched or am I just getting bad info?

we "roughed" up our knees diving on the ball that Mecole fumbled on a punt return to no avail

We had a penalty on one of their punts that gave them a first down (and a subsequent TD). Is that what you're talking about?

So you didn't watch the game.... but you've got the answers.

I posted this in the other thread but I think this is what you're looking for:

quote:

-It was 7-9 midway through the 2nd quarter. We stopped AU again and forced htem to punt before they called the leaping penalty. We flat out gave AU the ball back, they scored a TD to make it 7-16.
-Poor clock management at the end of the 1st half led to a missed FG (not saying we "gave them" anythign here, just a miss). 10-16 is a lot different than 7-16.
-AU comes out start of 2nd half and we hold them yet again. Mecole fumbles at our 20 and AU scores again, it's now 7-23.
-We end up punting and AU gets it around midfield with our defnese honestly doing pretty well all things considered, then another PF penalty gives htem the ball at our 35. They score again and now we're totally done for

Yep, there are always multiple individual factors that lead to a blowout but the biggest one factor was 46 total yards rushing......

Dude, c'mon. They absolutely killed us on both sides of the ball after our first drive. It was complete domination. No doubt UGA didn't help themselves with a bunch of stupid mental mistakes but that game was nowhere near being "close" in any sense of the word.

I take no pleasure in the above paragraph but it's the truth and should serve as motivation to whoop their asses this Saturday.

Not able to run the ball was huge. Georgia got its @ss handed to them on both lines of scrimmage. If that doesn’t improve a bunch, we’re not winning.

FWIW, when Aubies are being honest, that game hinged on everything breaking wide open on about 4 key plays between the second quarter and the beginning of the third... I think they *win* no matter what, but as has been stated multiple places now, the score differential in that game was heavily influenced by those plays.

I won't call the *game* close, but UGA playing their worst and Auburn playing maybe not their best but close to it... and the difference was more or less say 6 plays. That's enough to believe that on a neutral field, the Dawgs have a significant chance to improve if they simply execute better. Whether they will or not, another question altogether.

Dropped TD pass by UGA

It was a missed td pass rather than a dropped one.

Teams that are getting their arse whooped tend to make more mistakes. The score was 7-9 but they were driving down the field every time and we had several possessions of no yardage

We forced a punt when the score was 9-7, so you aren't right.

Our defense honestly hung in there and played well until the end of the 3rd. What killed them the first half and the start of the 3rd was penalties and short field
