Was looking at DawgNation saw an article Tallinn about areas that needed fixing before Kentucky. Some I agree with and some I completely disagree with. Here is my top three:

1. Offensively and defensively we were not physical enough. On defense we were back on our heels and if you watch, most of the time we would when we would make contact and move backwards. That’s not something we’ve seen from our defense since before the Auburn game last year.

You could even see our lack of physicality on the first offensive possession. When you watch Nick Chubb run for our first TD, Solomon kindley getsbmet at the line by a LB he easily outweighs by over 75lbs.

For whatever reason we were on our heels, playing slow and playing soft as a team. This will be corrected, IMO.

2. Somehow, we forgot our responsibilities. Our “Wolfpack” played like lambs are forgot that their main responsibility is to contain the football. They let to much stuff get to the perimeter. If the ball is bouncing outside without pursuit and our Corners are being forced to contain you know we are in trouble. We also, did a horrible job of getting off of blocks.

3. I don’t have a number three. I’m not going to criticize play callling because if our Line executes and plays faster with more physicality we are gashing their defense. I really don’t see this being the faults of our coaching staff. Sure it’s the coaches job to get the kids ready to play, but if you poke an ox and it doesn’t move, are you supposed to kill it? That’s not realisitic. Would we have liked to have seen more stretch plays, of course! Would we have liked to see more quick passes, absolutely. Would we have like’d to have seen some screens, maybe. However, when the line isn’t executing in the run and they can’t protect the passer what are we supposed to do. Over 75 percent of our playbook was rendered unexecutable.

Overall, I really felt like our team played either scared or had a rocky 3 moment and became satisfied as if their ranking and resume would win the game for them. As a coach, you can do everything you want to try to prevent that mentality in your team but reality is if it gets in their heads, your team is screwed. From a mentality perspective, this might have been the best thing that could have happened because our kids will want another shot at Auburn and if they get it, Auburn better watch out. I believe our team will have that chip on their shoulder again and we will get back to playing down hill Football again on both sides of the ball.

Maybe give it another pass...

I'll likely type some of my thoughts up later, but I'll disagree on placing it on our line to just magically play better. The play calling in this game was abysmal. It's fine to try some runs up the middle, but once you've identified that they are simply out talenting you on the LOS, continuing to do so and not try getting Swift/Sony the ball in space is just downright stupid. Leaving Fromm in third and long all game and giving Auburn a free pass to come after him just compounds the issue.

But primarily, it was a compounding of mistakes. Offensive playcalling was not great... when we did dial up a good play, there were mistakes (see: dropped likely TD pass for Ridley, see OL get blown up on flea flicker with Hardman streaking, etc...). If we go into half time with a lead or within 2, I think the game is dramatically different. The fumbled punt return is not quite as soul crushing then. Instead of being down 3 scores, you're down one, maybe two... once we got down 3 scores and then did not immediately put points on the board, the playcalling became *more* predictable and played right into what Auburn wanted/needed us to do... all while leaving their crowd in the game.

Humility was a week away... Time to see what Smart and Co can do to right the ship here... couple more games against average competition to help correct some things hopefully, but more importantly get this team right mentally before Atlanta. As I said elsewhere, there's no shame in losing in Atlanta... most of us assumed that would be the case before the year started... losing by 20+ would be a little rough on the Kirby Smart/UGA brand on the recruiting trail prior to the early signing period.

If we can't run the ball between the tackles, we aren't going to be successful.

you should stop trying to analyze then. this was our main problem...my 13 year old was sitting there saying exactly what we were doing every play once he saw the formations we lined up in...if he can do that from our living room...you bet your arse the Auburn DC can see it too....

if we are to get to the next level....we need to fire that fat arse OC....he sucks.

Also...when you are down like that...why not just try the QB who started the whole season last year...just to get some spark or something.

If I am Eason.....I'm gone come January....Fromm has been good and I like him...but it is ignorant coaching to keep doing the same thing over and over that isn't working....that is the definition of insane...."hey let's run Chubb between the tackles again"....

If your son is doing that already then his future is pretty dang bright.

Is there anyway I can set up an appointment to meet with him to pick his brain about how he would block inside and outside zone?

Dont know about you guys, but I knew we were going to lose before the game even started.

When Auburn ran into the stadium you could feel it. Blasting Post Malone "Congratulations" you could see their players dancing on the field, being very loose and confident. Our players looked like they already had the steel rod up their arse that Auburn was about to forcibly insert. Just a very bad feeling before the ball was even kicked off.

Where was the "juice" that was so widely talked about during the summer? Coaches did a terrible job this game, and this was a good wake up call.

Agree... not so sure the rat poison didn’t get to the coaches moreso than it did the players. 1. The failed onside kick vs Carolina
2. Giving up outside contain for stunts with DE vs Auburn.
3. General overall playing not to lose since we got that stupid no. 1 ranking.

Time to get back to choppin wood & run the table. Nothing better to take away the sting from Saturday’s debacle and redeem ourselves than a 3 game run with a SEC ‘ship.

Youte not blaming playcalling? So prior to the game, you know this is going to be the best front seven you have faced all year. You know that you likely wont be able to run between the hashes on them as successfully as you have against everyone else . Yet you still gamelan the same play calls up the interior right into the strength of the auburn defense. No screens, no tosses ,no formations that spread the defense out and help our dominated offensive line. No what we will do is give the front seven an extra 5 seconds to get to the backfield by running a flea flicker play?

I blame play calling too. Chaney is going to do Chaney... we got exposed by Muschamp. A lot of what Auburn did they saw SC do last week. The shifting of the front four to the right side on obvious Chubb runs was a prime example. More proactive play calling would have kept Fromm off his back and opened up other opportunities for sure.

Because Raquan said so.........

“You cannot really say it’s a surprise,” said Roquan. “But you never go into a game expecting to lose. It’s a reality check, and we’ll get better from here. I can promise you that.”

It wouldn’t have been a great idea to run outside screens due to the amount of tight man coverage. Perhaps could have run a Middle screen with Michel, Herrien, or Swift.

Also, you plan an offense to say we are going to be great at X, Y, and Z. Then you play a team that is good at stopping that and you don’t go away from what’s been built. Instead you say the best team will win and on this Saturday the best team won.

Agree but I mentioned a while back that our offensive plays are too predictable. Run, run, pass. Chaney has been seeing other teams defenses stack the box with 8-9 players all season but yet still calls the same predictable crap.

Oh please shut the frick up. If we can't block, then no matter what he does will help.

Again...we have never needed to do anything else. Auburn played lights out. Our playcalling didn't help, but that isn't even close to the main reason we lost the game.
