His transferring isn't a fait accompli. It's highly likely, but he'd lose a year to transferring. Fields' being an EE doesn't help the "Eason stays and competes" argument either, but if he goes, that leaves us with only 2 scholarship QBs, and that's not a positive development at all.

I hope he doesn't transfer, but if he does, he'll want to do it as soon as the season is over. Don't know where he lands but probably somewhere on the west coast.

Well, since he isn't a run threat, a Chip Kelly-led UCLA squad isn't the answer. I'd imagine Chris Petersen at Washington or Leach at Wazzou are chomping at the bit for his announcement to transfer.

If you mean FCS (old Div I-AA), then I agree. Div II is absolute shite and a player like Jacob Eason would do himself a disservice of going to a Div II school.

That being said, I think he transfers back to the NW. Timing would work out well for him at Washington. Browning has had a very rough season and his stock has slipped a lot so he could very well return next season, leaving an open position when Eason is eligible.

No offense but I am tired of seeing these type of threads. It's simply not helpful to our team. I don't know if Eason and his associates read this board or not but if he does then it doesn't send a positive message that we want him on our team. Yea, Eason might make a decision to go elsewhere to improve his career chances but we are just a single injury away from Eason being the starter again on a team that he has a year's worth of experience with as the starter.

When and where did you hear that Fields decided to enroll early?

You know, I don't think he transfers at this point. He's a prototypical QB build - cannon for an arm, tall, can make all the throws you need etc. He's going pro no matter what. This said, if his goal is to go pro is transferring really going to help him accomplish that goal? No. If he stays another year he goes to the draft in the quickest possible manner. If he transfers then he has to sit out a year and then go to program he wants to then go pro?

It's not like he's a Russel Wilson who had to prove himself by staying another year. He isn't an Aaron Murray who bled for the program. He's a Matt Stafford clone who just wants to go pro.

You know, I'm not finding anything to confirm that, so I'll walk back the EE statement. I was under the impression that baseball was out of the question with the broken finger, so it looks like I might've jumped the gun.

He would be a late late round pick, losing millions as a project pick. If he transfers, gets more field action, he could be #1 overall.

He would be a fool then, because his draft prospects are poor at best. He'd be a mid-round selection at absolute best, and I don't even think he would be taken that early. Without any significant playing time, he's a late rounder because he's proven nothing. His freshman tape would not be all that impressive other than arm strength.

He needs to play, and he isn't going to play a lick at UGA. So he absolutely should transfer. Sitting out a year won't hurt him at all. Sitting on the bench another year or two, which is what he's going to do, will.

Precisely!

I guess I meant the DIV 1 AA...can't he play there and then come straight back up to a school like the U...like Cam did?...without sitting a year out...if I was him that is what I would do. He is trying to get paid and he can most likely get the most money under that scenario....and I say the U because:

1. Richt

2. The U would be very high profile. Nobody stays up to watch WSU play Arizona...he could win a Natty or get in the playoffs at the U if things keep going well down there....which gets him more $$$.

Me too. But on the bright side of things at least HTDawg didn’t bitch through the entire game Saturday! Lol.

If he goes to a D-1AA school (FCS for the nitpickers) and has 2 good years he could easily be a late 1st or early 2nd round pick. He could elect to take a Redshirt and stay next year and take over for Fromm if (horrors!) a season ending injury happened, or transfer after 2018 if Fields looks like all he's being touted to be.
That's the scenario I would pitch to him if I was Kirby.

Eason isn't a Georgia guy.

He is an NFL guy.

The only reason he came to Georgia is because we ran pro-style ofense and had garbage for QB's, essentially guaranteeing him an early starting spot, and that's exactly what he got.

He has no loyalty or hometown connection with this program.

There is a zero percent chance he earns his job back. Fromm would have to be catastrophically injured.

There is a 100% chance he can be an immediate starter at dozens of other schools.

That is basically what I said. As for him coming here only because of our offense, that is the main reason most of them come here.

Eason has a great arm.

But if he's truly gonna have a shot at the NFL he had better find a good QB coach and work his arse off. I dont see how a kid that was beaten out of his job by a freshman can improve enough to be this phenom everyone assumes he will be. He seemed a little too happy to be over there hanging out on the sidelines.

He will play in the state of Washington. There's zero chance he goes to da U.
