I saw the 247 sports defensive depth chart.

According to them (and I dont disagree), Tyreque McGhee is our 4th string nickel defender.

He was the starter last season. We got killed by Bama at this position. We got killed early by Texas.

This will be our most improved spot next year. And this will help us significantly when facing a capable QB.

FWIW, I like Wilson starting here (247 has Webb as the starter). I have no insider tips... I just like what I've seen from Wilson more than Webb in terms of coverage.

I dont see any new faces contributing on the DL.
As a matter of fact, I dont see anyone from the 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes getting meaningful reps.

That said... just being healthy should lead to improvement versus 2018. Arguably, our 9 best linemen are 3-5 yr players on the team. We have a lot of mature bodies with a lot of experience on the field.

OLB

Someone will emerge, and it's going to be curtains for a lot of QBs we play this year.

I’m gonna say the ol will take an even bigger step forward if they stay healthy.

Travon Walker will play. I watched him throughout high school ball and this kid is on another level. For him not to see the field would be a mistake. Our D-Line is in dire need of a playmaker and I think he will show us that's exactly what he is, it just might take a couple of games.

If healthy the Dline. I read the 247 article and didn't know Rochester has offseason knee surgery. I always had high expectations for him because everyone thought he was Auburn bound but he signed with the good guys and was excited as hell. Do anyone know what the injury to his knee was and how extensive?

He will definitely play. I just dont know when the snaps will be meaningful (I'm hoping for a lot of blowouts)

Currently, this is the depth at DE:
Herring, Jr
Marshall, Sr
Walker, Fr (fighting Justin Young, RsSr for this spot)

Here is the depth at DT:
Clark, Sr
Wyatt, Jr
Rochester, Sr
Walker, Fr (fighting Walthor, Fr for this spot).

Davis, Herring, Marshall, and Clark have all been that guy.
But Davis, Herring, and Marshall have been hurt and Clark hasn't been consistent.

DE is a good pick for improved if we can stay healthy with a potentially great 2 man rotation.

Hard to say. Production wise probably DL. But one of the 5* OLB's we've been stacking like cord wood is going to blow up this year.

Based on reports on Wolf, I think we are improved overall at TE.

What?

ETA: just saw this wasn’t your first pick and that at least makes me feel better.
