We can go on and on regarding WHY? But THIS is the core of our problem:

“Smart will look in the mirror and see a coach who has believed he has enough talent and depth to play not to lose — rather than playing to win — these first two months of the season.“
LINK

This is what must be corrected.

Kirby is obsessed with what is known as manball. Recruiting a massive offensive line, 4&5 star skill players, and saying that’s enough for us to call a conservative game and beat anyone. We will line up, impose our will and keep the ball away from you.

Sorry but that doesn’t work anymore in modern football. Teams have evolved and now it’s time for us to do the same. Alabama realized they had to stop doing it to keep winning nattys. LSU finally stopped doing it.

We recruit just as good as either of those teams. The only thing separating us is our offensive philosophies.

Exactly correct.
Translation: Smart needs to wake up and smell the roses and get an OC who can open up the offense with smart innovation.

Agreed, but Orgeron also hired competent coordinators instead of recruiters who either weren't ready or weren't any good.

As non of us are going to quit being Dawg fans, best to just support them.

I said it earlier and I’ll say it again. Kirby is Saban from the 2009ish era. Build great defense and rushing attack with great game manager QB. Only issue is that football has evolved a lot in the past 10 years so this style isn’t as effective as it used to be.

True, but some seem to think we are, and that we wanted this loss.

Georgia already proved in 2017 that it could compete for (and nearly win) a championship playing that style of offense.

The problem is that this offense isn't anywhere near as well-coached - from the QB to the receivers to the OL, despite being more talented on paper.

Even in the 2017 natty we played not to lose in the 4th

And notice that Alabama changed their offense the following year and then LSU the next. The evolution is quick.

That type of football isn’t optimal anymore. LSU knew if they wanted to compete with the NEW version of Bama they’d have to follow suit and they did.

I said it wasn’t as effective. I never said it wouldn’t work at all. We also had a nice storm of a hard and respected senior group combined with a down SEC east. Closest east game we played that year was against Carolina and we played like arse and won by 14.

East is better now. Team leadership doesn’t seem to be as solid. O coordinator is somehow even worse than Chaney.

When you can run the ball consistently with an OL that looks to have regressed, we don't have the QB or the receivers(at least right now) that can lead us to a win.

This is a very good point. That game was ours and we lost our nerve

As far as the O line goes I think every good team is going to follow the Texas model. Twists and stunts all day. We suck at picking those up. And Gaillard was so much better than Trey Hill’s lard arse it’s not funny

bullshite. Fromm and our 4 and 5 star receivers would flourish in a spread offense with a competent offensive coordinator.

Then why do we make it look so hard to complete 5 and 10 yard passes? LSU and Florida did that all night with ease? Is it simply Coley and Hankton?

Putting players in bad predictable positions.

It’s not the players. We recruit significantly better than South Carolina.

and if they were flat that’s on the coaches too.

We should fire that fat slob Chaney and hire a top OC and we ... never mind.
