For one small subset of donors, in one particular section of the stadium, with no view of the field, and no ability to take the drink out of the aforementioned small specific area for specific donors.
I never thought mcgarity could mcgarity-up beer sales in sanford but it's happened. Good news is at least it's a start, probably wont' be long before it's stadium-wide.

I have a feeling that they will get rid of the SEC-wide ban this year at the meetings coming up.
Keep in mind, they already provide alcohol in Sanford stadium.....this is just the first time you can buy it. Sky Box and lower suites have beer and wine in them already, just don’t have to pay for it.
I’m guessing next year, it will be Stadium-wide, excluding the main student sections.

I think this was the route LSU went. Last year they debuted "the chute" which I think was one specific area of the stadium where the general public coudl purchase, but you couldn't leave that area. Similar to what we're doing, only far more accessible and will generate far more revenue. And I *think* I heard that after doing that last year they are going to open it up to more of the general seating areas this year.

Was looking at another board and someone passed along this email they received regarding the section:
Starting with the 2019 UGA Football season, The Georgia Bulldog Club is pleased to announce the creation of a new premium hospitality space within Sanford Stadium. This covered open-air space will be located on the concourse in the southeast corner of the 200 level. This space will open two hours prior to kickoff and will provide patrons with a reprieve from the stands, no matter your seat location, accessible via the southeast or northeast ramps. This premium space will feature flat screen televisions, high-top tables, and couches where patrons can enjoy exclusive food and drink options. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be included with the purchase of a season pass, whereas beer and wine will be available for purchase. Alcoholic consumption will be limited to this space and will not be allowed outside of this confined area.
With capacity limited to no more than 400 people, access to this hospitality area is being provided as a Magill Society donor stewardship benefit to those who have pledged $100,000 or more. Only donors at the $100,000 Magill Society commitment level and above will have the ability to request up to two (2) season passes. The deadline to request is July 15. Magill Society donors who have pledged $250,000 or more will be guaranteed access to purchase up to two (2) season passes.
Another poster then said that the passes cost $250.

That is the minimum to be in magill ($5K per year over a 5 year period..on top of your regular donations). But the alcohol section is only for $100K level magill people.
So basically...you have to contribute $20K per year with a guarantee of 5 years, give your regular seat contribution, pay for the season tickets, and then buy a season pass for the lounge area. All for the privilege to buy a beer inside without a view of the field mcgarity is such a turd

The UGA Ad has fricked up the PR on this so bad I am embarrassed for them.
The whole thing is horribly thought out....

We have seats on the 200 level, but on the Southwest end. There is a room in the Southwest Corner where, years ago, we used to be able to go in and get free BBQ sandwiches, cokes and "dog bone" cookies. We had a little card for access. I do not remember what the criteria for the card was (could have been my Dad was a lettermen).
Anyway, several years ago they took that room away and made it an adjunct press room. I reckon buying a few hundred sandwiches, cookies and cokes was to big a strain on the budget.
I guess they think they have figured a way to squeeze a few more dollars out of their largest yearly donors. How magnanimous. They should allow us commoners to have a drink in the area behind the West Endzone. Put up some TVS so people can see the game while they have a beer

what section? Our family had seats in 236 for ages and right behind us there was a glassed in little room with some TVs and such, I wonder if that's the same place.

My guess is the beer garden will be in the large area in the east endzone in the 200s, looks out over East campus rd and the cemetery.

For only 2K a year, you can also buy beer at my tailgate prior to the game, also with no view of the field. You may also sleep through the game in the shade at the spot for an additional fee.

Those were my seats at the LSU game and it was glorious...Booze and Food the whole time. Seats were in the 800 level and on the sun but it didn't matter.

We always could drink beer - and harder stuff - in Sanford. You would just get tossed if they caught you.

Over the last 5 years. The letter WG is referring to was sent months ago and has since been adjusted.
Either way, the section is a pad of concrete with no viewing and can’t leave with a drink. Not sure whose going up there unless it’s a business trip and conversation, cause anyone that wants to drink during the game is still sock rolling in their liquor as of now
