We are hiring defensive assistants with no DC, seems odd.

A: We have a DC that isn't named yet because this is the best kept secret of all time.

B: Kirby is going to try his hand at DC in 2019 with some sort of assistant co-DC to handle the time consuming administrative operational part of coordinating a defense.

C: ?

I can see this happening but its a tough job to be an HC and DC at the same time.

But if he's already been doing it, to some extent.... then it's nothing new except job titles are inconsistent with the norm.

When Spurrier had offensive coordinators, who was really the offensive coordinator?

Mullen had OC's at MSU, who was really the coordinator?

Many examples of this, relating to offense.

Maybe Kirby is, and has been, just doing this on defense.

To be clear... I have heard the Kirby interviews where he talks up Mel Tucker, says he is the DC 100%, "even if I wanted to micromanage and be the DC, I just don't have enough hours in the day, this is Mel's defense"... I'm still not really buying that.

Lol@Terry Dean being salty

That kid wanted to commit to UGA got told no thanks, Then Tennessee said no, finally Auburn said that's ok we are good. If not for Mullen's crappy recruiting last year he would have been at USF.

I agree. Even with Mel Tucker, Kirby always had the final say. Ever notice during the season that Mel was always right there on the sideline with Kirby and stuck to his hip? There was a reason for that.

Gator fans seem to be mad about this.

It means it must be a good hire.

UF's DB's improved quite a bit from MacElwain's watch to Warren being hired there when Mullen took over. I will approve this hire.
