Russell Henley leading early day 2

DJ is killing it. I’m really looking forward to this weekend.
It’s hard not to root for him after these two rounds. I’ve given him a bad rap because of what I’ve heard from some of the locals here but he seems to have gotten his shite together and man he can hit a golf ball.
I’d love to play that course with this set up. Not for the tips though.

I just hope it isn’t over before Sunday even starts. Would like for DJ to have a few contenders breathing down his neck.

I usually don’t care for the U.S. Open because of the exact type of bullshite we’re seeing. With the shitty inconsistent greens and bullshite set-up. And the garbage Bobba-Booey gallery. So watching DJ (with his natural-born inability to ever give a frick) dominate this thing would be awesome, imo.
That being said, the high drama part is that on this turd of a course, he’s only one bad hole away from dropping off the leaderboard at any moment and handing it to a boring par warrior. Weeee.

Tiger gone win by a touchdown!

The depressing part is I can't even tell if you don't understand golf...…..or if you actually do realize that Tiger missed the cut 10 hours ago, but are just obliviously farting SEC sewer rant vernacular for us to smell.

You've never been able to pick up on my sarcasm in the past. Why start now?
Posted on 6/16/18 at 1:12 pm to Barstools
Sarcasm is supposed to be funny and have some wit though.
Barstools, I double-dog dare you to try and make a post that contributes something useful and meaningful to this thread. Or at least something where after we’ve read it, we don’t all wrinkle our faces like we just unexpectedly inhaled pungent egg fart vapors. Like we usually do.
I really want to see if you can do it. Ready, set, go!

That shite Phil just pulled was the craziest brain-fart thing I’ve ever seen. I have been watching golf since I was a young kid and don’t ever recall any top player doing anything like that before. Him and Johnston laughed it off, but WOW

Nope.

Here, I will educate you.
What you described is facetiousness. See, sarcasm is used to mock or ridicule. I was mocking Tiger for missing the cut, while using a common term from a real sport, football. There is no implied humor in sarcasm. There can be humor, though. Maybe now that you understand my post you will find humor. Probably not, which is fine because it wasn't really meant to be funny.
Facetiousness does imply humor and it is meant to be funny. Like when someone makes a lighthearted joke about a serious topic. For example, if I were to joke about your mental handicap. It's funny because your capacity to think is diminished and is evident in your posts. But it's inappropriate to make fun of a person's birth defects.

Congratulations! You learned a new word today and learned the correct definition of another. Who says my posts can't be useful?

It’s nauseating.
The U.S. Open just shifted into high drama gear with facemelters left and right but we’re getting farted on and put to sleep with boredom lectures.

What the hell just happened???
Why the hell isn’t he DQ’d?
Posted on 6/16/18 at 2:59 pm to Jefferson Dawg
Wasn’t a brain fart apparently. Hes saying he did it on purpose now.
Thought that was automatic disqualification.

Oh well.... The USGA has turned this country’s golf championship into a Talladega race again. Congrats dipshits.
I guess we sit back and watch the wrecks now.

It’s not a DQ but a two stroke penalty. Given where he’s at on the leaderboard he is all but DQd at this point
Here’s the official explanation, suspect as it sounds:
Jason Sobel

Some inside golf here, but USGA’s John Bodenhamer says Phil Mickelson was assessed a penalty for violating Rule 14-5, but not Rule 1-2, because, “He didn’t purposely stop or deflect the ball.” ??

Yes, you read that correctly. If Mickelson had "stopped" or "deflected" the ball, he would have been disqualified. But since he merely continued to hit a moving ball, the USGA has deemed that only worthy of a two-stroke penalty.

Yeah...I’ve never seen anything like that in a tourney. I’ve been that pissed off playing golf a lot though. I get it.
Posted on 6/16/18 at 5:09 pm to tylerdurden24
Yeah, it could go either way, I guess. So they went the safe politically correct route. I’m wondering if had they known how arrogant Phil was going to be in his comments afterwards if maybe they’d of gone another route though.
To me it’s a about as disrespectful a breech of etiquette I’ve ever seen. Which is auto DQ by rule. I don’t know the rule number but it basically says Goodby, Good luck, and frick you for being a jackass.

I wish on Monday they’d film a bunch of 15 and 20 handicapper schmoes like myself playing this setup just for comedy purposes.
Posted on 6/16/18 at 7:30 pm to Jefferson Dawg
They did that a few years ago based on Tigers comment. I’d love to play that setup just because us average guys don’t get many chances to put on greens that vicious.
I played on the course at Grove Park a few years ago that was rolling a 12 or so and it was crazy. Like hit a 100 yd approach to an elevated green and think you’re right...and the ball rolls back down to you crazy.
