I liked visors but aging has revealed a portion of my scalp up top. Visors just seem to frame it and give me one of those medieval monk looks.

Dammit.

Got my head sunburned once years ago. So bad I couldn't even finger-comb my hair. Now I'm getting thin hair in my old age. No more visors for me.

I like the idea of a visor but I've never found one that looks "right" on my head.

In terms of functionality, it probably doesn't get any better than above.

It just seems like once you put something like that on your head that you've crossed some line into a world there's no coming back from.

Anybody crossed over into geezer hat world yet? If so, what was the transition like?

From time to time I still rock the red titelist hat with the power G on the side that I got 12 years ago. It's more of a salmon color now and has been in countless bodies of water, but it still hasn't frayed or really worn down at all.

As for newer hats, frequently wear the black nike dri-fit material hat with the throwback bulldog on the front.

I wear that hat when I do yard work

Trying to garden and manage my yard without it feels like playing football without a helmet

On the plus side, that hat does come with a complimentary pair of sandals and socks.

Hell yeah! I’m a proponent of straw for that activity, and others, as well.

But the cut of that one in particular is terrifying.

How many 30 minute conversations about the importance of arch support when selecting Dr sholls inserts have you had since crossing over?

It’s not so bad once you sweat in it and it warps to the contours of your head.

No arch support for me. Not yet. Slip on my red nike sneakers and go to work. Though I do have a foam knee pad. And leather gloves. Impossible to work in the yard without a straw hat, knee pad, and leather gloves.

Looks like I’ll need one of those if I’m going to play golf this summer. Freaking 98 degrees.
