For some reason I thought he graduated. Probably because I haven't heard his name all pre-season or even back in the spring. Has he been injured or something? I'm just surprised because I've always thought he's one of our most important players back there. Good things just seem to happen when he's in the game and it's hard for me to imagine he's completely out of the game plan now.

I know Webb has emerged but I wouldn't be surprised to see Kirby go back to McGhee at some point when we need a savvy veteran on the field.

I HOPE the reason is because the secondary is just much more talented and deep as compared to years past and he is just average now and will play when needed.

He’s going to be passed over with bigger, faster, more talented players around him. He’s quality depth but he doesn’t have the height, length, or speed of Campbell, Wilson, Stevenson, Daniel, or Stokes

Two things I didn't expect to see in the same post...

I love the kid's grind and hustle but he's been a liability against talented receivers more often than not.

My sincere hope is that either 1) he has either improved so much that we're pleasantly surprised if/when he plays or 2) he only plays in mop up duty...

I guess this year is the year that talent emerges but even last year not having him in the games hurt us. He played an amazing game at Florida

He’s basically been passed by with the improvement of Wilson and Webb. William Poole as well. He’s a good player but a little smaller than Kirby wants and not the most physical. Only play of his I remember other than the good film study play where he recognized WR screen against Tennessee in 2017 and dove and picked off the first pass of the game is his pick of Franks last year when he did well to stay with the receiver but Franks made an awful throw and he intercepted it.

All that to say I like the kid but I feel better with Webb and Wilson’s size and talent

He wasn't very good last year as the starter.

He was picked on by LSU, Bama, and Texas.

Webb and Wilson are ahead of him on the depth chart.

But Peter will tell us how great he is when hes at an NFL camp preseason hoping the bodies ahead of him get injured.
