I've posted many times on here and the SECR saying how he really transformed his playcalling this year and was really, really great. I've started rewatching the bowl game (only through a quarter and a half before I stopped, will watch the rest later) but noticed 2 pretty glaring things.

1- We ran the "diamond" formation. For years people have said Bobo can't adjust, yet this year we ran the pistol with a shite ton of success. In the bowl game, we ran the diamond formation that I've also noticed the Redskins run. For those not familiar, it's the pistol (QB in the shotgun with a RB behind him) with 2 RBs to the left and right between them, forming a diamond. This shows that Bobo isn't a stick in the mud and is willing to incorporate new and innovative formations in our offense.

2- An actually effective wildcat. In 2009 we tried to run the "wild dawg" with Ealey at QB with Branden Smith at WR. It sucked arse. In the bowl game, we actually put Gurley and Marshall in the backfield at the same time to keep the D off balance. We even scored off a Gurley TD at QB.

My point is, our offense was wildly effective this year. We put up school record numbers in multiple categories. Many people say Bobo is too predictable and he sucks or whatever, but this year he really carried his weight and did a hell of a job. Do I think he's the best OC in the country? No, absolutely not. Do I think he did a fantastic job and put us in great position to win games? Definitely.

Good points. I was very happy with Bobo this year compared to his 08-10 playcalling.

I have not been a fan of Bobo by any means for more reasons than I care to go into....

...BUT...I almost had a coronary when we lined up in those different formations and had both Gurley and Marshall in the background. With that kind of talent we need to find ways to get them on the field at the same time.

Why it took until the bowl game to try it beats me...but it was exciting to see.

This was the best offense we've had since CMR has been here. He did a wonderful job of developing Murray and utilizing our talented backs effectively.

Ya think? Good Lord, it was the most prolific offense in the history of UGA FB...set records for yards.pts and yrds per play. It's called perspective folks. But I'm sure we'll see the same miserable fricks bitching and moaning about Bobo after the 1st sub par offensive performance in '13.

The first time we go 3 and out there will be folks on here calling for him to be fired and lynched.

No doubt about it. I have no gripe at all about our offensive output and this year completely changed my opinion on Bobo. It's amazing how good the offense looks when the line comes together and executes for a change.

eta: You think a team like LSU wouldn't love to have Bobo on their staff with all of the offensive talent they have?

No SEC title minimum with this level of talent = not utilizing the talent we have effectively.

Which part of his talent did he not "utilize effectively"? We lost 3 starters on the o-line from last year and we lost 3 out of our top 4 WR's due to injury and we lead   the nation in passing efficiency and yards per play and set UGA records for pts and yrds... Oh and we also started/played 2 freshman @ TB and walk on @ FB.

No complaints at all about Bobo when building a lead, it is when we go up a couple of scores and he goes conservative and lets the other team back in the game that pi$$es me off. The score of the game should never come into play calling until the point in the game where there is no chance for the other team to win.

Couldn't agree more. The one thing that I think Bobo had this year that he hasn't before was a well-rounded solid offense in all facets. In my opinion we've not had the total package since he's called plays. We've always been missing something whether it was an inexperienced QB, young o-line or thug running backs. You could make an argument for '08 but our defense was terrible and didn't give the offense much of a chance. The offensive line coming together like they did, along with the pair of freshman studs in the backfield were the x-factors. Those two combined really opened the playbook and let Murray/Bobo shine. Not to mention the really deep and talented receiving corps.

Bobo calls the offensive philosophy Richt dictates to him. Going conservative with a lead is on Richt. Bobo is just following orders. Complain to McGarity to change this, but don't blame Bobo.

Bama went conservative and had to punt us the ball.
However, they forced us to use all our timeouts.

The point is... even great running teams struggle to run the ball when the defene knows it. But its whatg you do if you want to win. 1 more timeout, and that game was ours.

Please. UGA moved the ball at will against Bammer. They didn't have a pass rush giving Murray all day to throw the ball. That last drive didn't come down to not having any timeouts, it came down to coaching. We had 12 seconds. Spike the ball and the media might be talking about a rematch between UGA vs ND instead of Alabama.

As for Bobo. I think this year was his best coaching year since he's been at UGA. It seems to me that CMR unhooked the chain that was around his neck and unleashed him to call his own game. I also noticed (aside from the USCe game) a coach that made IN GAME ajustments throughout the year. I thought he did a great job this year and that offense wll be even better this year.
