I knew Nauta something was wrong with Nauta when he didn't take that catch to the house against BAMA. When he ran that 4.9 at the Combine it all made sense.

Pickens strikes me as a guy who will get a couple more unsportsmanlike penalties this year and we will have to live with it.

And really, who doesn't love a good drive-killing penalty now and again?

Eli Wolf, a TE we got primarily for blocking has looked very good catching the ball.

I knew nothing about Wolf but he was definitely productive as a receiver in high school in Ohio. Senior year: 74 receptions, 1,319 receiving yards. Holds a bunch of career receiving records for his school and area. Not sure what competition it was against but clearly he wasn't just a blocker in h.s.

But I'll withhold judgment on comparisons to Nauta until we see Wolf against better teams.

Meanwhile...wasn't Charlie Woerner supposed to be dominant this season?

Wolf was a wide receiver in high school. He got the PWO offer from Tennessee with the idea that he would grow into a tight end (once the size met the tight end mark, they extended the scholarship). That still didn't prevent tennessee from signing transfer TEs who were bigger and presumably better blockers to help out a struggling OL. Wolf opted to grad transfer at that point.

But barely used at Tennessee. I mean, nothing really showed a lot of promise. Of course, we can pass that off as poor management by Tennessee.

I didn't make a Nauta comparison, so I am guessing this was aimed at someone else?

I don't know about dominant, but I think he will be as good as nauta was. We just didn't use Nauta properly for whatever reason. (Play calling, Fromm not liking to throw over the middle...?) At the end of a half we suddenly went to Nauta time after time, though.
