You know I like it but I like it more in a week or so. I need a week of self pity/loathing.

I'm right there with you. I'm actually surprised at how quickly I appear to be bouncing back from the immediate emotion of the way it all ended, Monday.
One of the guys on ESPNU Radio on SXM summed it up Tuesday when he said that he can't think of a game where there was a bigger emotional swing, faster than the sack on 1st down to make it 2nd & 26, and then the gigantic gut punch that was the ensuing TD. You're looking at less than 25 seconds, I'd venture. 2nd & 26, FFS. Not gonna lie, after their missed FG to end regulation - knowing we were still alive- agony at Fromm's sack on our OT possession, elation from Hot Rod's 51yd FG. After the 1st down sack, - I thought we had them. 24H after the game, I was pissed and numb, at the same time.
The biggest thing that tore me up when it was all said and done was the 3 photos Michel posted on Instagram, cleaning out his locker and passing the torch to Fields, since he'll be #1 going forward. Ugly tears, previously reserved for Elliot finding ET pale and lifeless in the ditch after Halloween.

I understand. After Tua came in and started completing passes and we obviously couldn't stop their offense, I got pissed and thought were going to lose. I could just see the momentum shifting in their favor. Their success on offense fired up their defense and they completely shut down our offense in the 4th quarter.
At that point I reconciled myself to the fact that we still had a few too many glaring weaknesses to beat a highly talented team like Alabama with an ultra talented mobile Freshman QB and talented receivers who had been under-utilized up to that point.
What worries me is the realization that we once again had our shot against Alabama and blew it and when will we get another chance? We lose a lot on defense and offense. Our hope lies in recruiting and filling those holes that led to our demise in the NCG.

Yet, the fact of the matter is we were a couple plays away from beating them.

Besides Sony and Chubb we lose Wims and Simms. I wouldn't call that a lot. Our offense should no doubt be better next year.

True but we didn't. With a little over 3 minutes left, our offense had an opportunity to drive down the field and score a winning TD. But our OL was being completely dominated at that point and we weren't able to muster even a single first-down. Bama of course drove down for the winning FG; we were just lucky that their FG kicker choked on a routine FG sending the game into OT.
Meanwhile Tua threw 2 TD passes in second half and over course the winning TD pass in OT while our offense was moving in reverse forcing Hot Rod to have to kick a 51 yard FG in OT.

We absolutely should have beaten them, no ifs or buts.

Maybe after the loss the coaches finally figured out that you cant run the ball up the middle on a great defense.

If we never run it up the middle again, it'll be too soon.
