What do you mean you think? shite.....cut that thing off and keep it. Shake it around.....and you'll see there's no way you can imitate the sound the snake can make with it. Pretty cool to think about the genius of the design that God made for the rattlesnake.....for them to be able to rattle it like they do.

I'd tan that skin too. Looks like a good chunk of it is ruined, but you've got enough there to use it for something....

Yeah I did cut it off, was just trying to remember off hand how many it was. It really is amazing how they can make the sound so perfectly and consistently and I can't do it for crap. When I was moving it from the backyard to the front last night to get a better look at it, its rattle was dragging on the ground and the sound it was making was pretty close to the actual sound it was making when it was alive.

Why do you think it didn't strike the dog just a few feet away barking at it? It was coiled up and rattling looking ready to strike but for some reason it didn't.

My story is a little different, have two.

A neighbor was afraid of snakes and wanted to drop that fear by buying one for a pet, he knew that I had one and asked if I would go to a reptile show with him. They had a Brazilian rainbow boa baby; he told the dealer that he wanted to look at that one but to hand it to me. When the dealer opened the box that bitch went crazy and locked on my thumb. He looked at the dealer and said, "I'll pass on that one", and I then told him to get the damn thing unlocked from my thumb.

I had a red tail boa for a few years and he got to about 6 feet long. And the day before thanksgiving in 2004 I fed him and he went on a feeding frenzy through the house. He wrapped around a guitar and tangled into everything. When I finally got him untangled he lit my arse up. He bit me on the inside of my wrist right where all the veins are and I had been cleaning for the holidays and blood was just pouring out. My neighbor came by and he started calling 911 and I hung up the phone and he was flipping out. I was done at that point. A buddy of mine (that owned a pet store) talked me out of turning him into a pair of cowboy boots and said he would sell him. Well one day this customer that he had dealt with in the past came in and he was a jerk and Brad didn't like him but he bought Ghost. That was his name. Well two days later the old guy went to take him out of his cage and ghost bit him in the face. He came back and cussed everyone out and they laughed their asses off when he left. They said it couldn't have happened to a better person.

I don't know. like I said earlier, I had a dog get bit in the face by one. But, it was a stupid dog though. Got right down in it's face.

Rattlesnakes really don't want any trouble......They're gentleman......Mostt times they really really have to be provoked and feel threatened before they'll strike. They just want to be left alone......which I respect.

Never understood people that keep snakes as pets.

I was at a friend of a friend's house one time in college..... Noticed an empty aquarium and asked what that was all about. Dude said it was for his pet snake. But.......I said there is no snake in there. He said that's because they let it crawl around the house sometimes.

Well, maybe they were fricking with me, but I didn't sit down the whole time I was in that place. They'd sneak up behind me and tap me on the back and I'd freak the frick out. I mean, how do you ever relax with a fricking python crawling around your damn house somewhere?

You people are insane. frick pet snakes, man.

Makes no sense to me why people do this, I mean I'm not afraid of nonvenomous snakes really, but that has got to be the weirdest pet to have. I mean I don't see any fun or enjoyment in petting it or letting it slither around the house, just thinking about it kinda freaks me out.

You did better than I would have, I would've left as soon as they let me know that it was loose in the house
