Swift and the Heisman Trophy..

There are a few articles circulating that Swift should be a contender for the Heisman Trophy this season. What say you on this? The last RB that won the HT was Derrick Henry and before him was Mark Ingram.
IMO, if any RBs that should have won it in the past few years, it should have been Michel or Nick over the douchebag Baker Mayfield. I respectfully ask you why QB's get nominated over RBs? Since 2007, there have been 9 QBs that have received the HT and only 2 RBs. Ive noticed that the QB's that have gotten the HT have turned out to be shite QB's in the NFL (Mayfield has done ok).
Looking for serious opinions. Do ya'll think that Swift deserves the HT?

I’m going to wholeheartedly disagree with you here.

Depends on how he plays. I don’t think he’ll get enough carries for that which is fine by me. Keeping him healthy > Heisman

Mayfield deserved the Heisman and with that offensive line and Swift’s talent I absolutely believe he’s got a legitimate shot.

He's got a legit shot. But UGA needs to win the SECCG and he'll need over 1500 yards to have a chance.

it should have been Michel or Nick over the douchebag Baker Mayfield.

I respectfully ask you why QB's get nominated over RBs?
quote:He won't get the eye popping stats it takes to get the Heisman. It is going to take 2,000+ yards to take a Heisman for a RB, probably...or at least close to it.

All that said, the RB is and probably always will be an integral part of the college and NFL offense. Look at the teams in the NFL that run the ball well and they typically do very well. Teams that struggle to run the ball struggle to win.

You're looking for serious opinions on if Swift deserves to win the Heisman this year, and we haven't even gotten to media days yet.... holy fricking shite, there's no way this shite is real. You've earned a top 10 spot in SECR slow play trolls. Bravo!

I don't think Swift has a chance. He won't get enough carries and there will probably be two over 1000 yards on this team. Just like 2017 when Nick and Sony both ran over and around everyone, anyone with a Heisman vote will attribute their success to the offensive line.
Jalen Hurts will probably win it.

RB’s are gonna be hard pressed to ever win it. It’s not that the position in devalued in CFB - it’s not, or at least not nearly to the degree it is in the NFL - QB’s just put up too crazy of numbers for RB’s to compete.
Here were the top 5 rushers in D1-A football last year:
1. Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin) - 2,194 yds, 7.1 ypc, 16 TDs
2. Darrell Henderson (Memphis) - 1,909 yds, 8.9 ypc, 22 TDs
3. Trayveon Williams (TA&M) - 1,760 yds, 6.5 ypc, 18 TDs
4. Travis Etienne (Clemson) - 1,658 yds, 8.1 ypc, 24 TDs
5. Eno Benjamin (Arizona St.) - 1,642 yds, 5.5 ypc, 16 TDs
None of them were even in serious discussion for the Heisman. Mind you, 4 of them played in P5 conferences and one was on the team that won the natty.
Only one RB has won the Heisman this decade and it was Derrick Henry in ‘15. Here are his numbers that year:
2,219 yds, 5.6 ypc, 28 TDs
Do you see Swift approaching those numbers? Because he’ll have to do that and probably have us win the SEC just to be in the discussion. Even then, it may not happen if Lawrence, Hurts or Herbert have insane seasons.

I tend to agree that Swift would need to be around 2000 yards or close, but the biggest key for a RB winning is to be on a title contender. Nick’s freshman year squad was not, and there was the added layer of him being a backup to Gurley. Of course Gurley was largely unavailable, but the narrative is important.

If UGA is in the the playoff and swift has 1500 yards with with a stout average ypc as well as the impressive highlights we are accustomed to seeing from him, I think he wins it. That is a lot of ifs though

No shite sherlock. I was only mentioning several articles that I've read over the past few days.
He will have to cover some serious yardage in order to be considered for it.
And I guess you didn't catch my message to you last night or you don't care so if anyone is the troll it's you. Quit being a keyboard bully because you're not hurting anyone but yourself.

Swift will need 20-25 carries a game and an average of about 120 ypg to have a serious shot at the Heisman. Also, the AD needs to send video of his every game to the voters and the sports media. The last player I can recall that won the Heisman on performance alone (without all that other stuff) was Herschel, and maybe George Rogers.
I just don't think Swift will get enough carries to impress the voters on his own.

Gurley would have won it had he not gotten suspended. He was well on his way before the NCAA stepped in.

i will book anyone's bet on swift winning the heisman.
if you think he has a chance, you are delusional

That's a lot of yards for one game.

It is completely reasonable to think he has a chance but it is a very very small chance since QBs dominate the award.
IMO Fromm has a much better chance than Swift

I don't see it happening. As other said he doesn't get the carries. He has also had some injury issues. I thought Gurley had a real good shot but of course the autograph suspension happened.

Chubb also was well on his way in 2015 before his injury.
It could happen, but I think Fromm May have a better shot.
