So with Fields gone, the backup is currently Stetson Bennett

Bennett will compete with Dwan Mathis this spring for the #2 job. But realistically, Bennett was a walk-in and Mathis is considered raw.

So this all suggests we will go into overdrive to sign a big name for 2020 (regardless of John Rhys Plumlee, I think).

Who are the big targets for 2020?

What about a couple of the top 5 QBs for 2020 who are currently committed elsewhere: Harrison Bailey (UT), Max Johnson (LSU)? Those are Georgia kids.

Or Carson Beck of Florida (Alabama commit at present)

Roquan says Stetson is a stud, he will fill the back up roll nicely and wish he has stayed to begin with.

There's a kid out of Prince Ave that's highly rated for 2021.

Top QB targets for 2020 are:

Robby Ashford - AU/UGA battle. UGA likely slight lead

DJ Uiageleilei - top QB nationally. Oregon/Clemson leaders.

So number 3 QB in the nation (Harrison Bailey) plays for Marietta and we are letting putrid UT sign him?

Meanwhile that other highly touted kid is in Watkinsville...but can almost understand him wanting a change of scenery.

Is there a family/legacy connection there?

Why is that so terrible??? Mail Man actually makes me way better about QB depth next season. Been hearing about Mailman since his 11th grade season. He was our No. 2 QB in the 2017 season, and now he's in his third season. Cool!!!!

I'm sure he's capable to go in for a series if Fromm gets dinged.

But for the 2020 class, we need to sign an elite QB.

Relying on a former walk-on and a raw project is a bit risky long-term.

Stetson will be the backup the next 2 years. He’s really good, just undersized.... but that doesn’t really matter see the past 2 Hman winners. He is quick as a cat, smart, and a hell of an arm.

Those that trash him, just don’t know!

Why did no one offer him a D-1 scholarship?

More underwater 3D chess. We were the only one who knew he would be such a great scout team player. That will put us over the top.

Most branches of the military figured Audie Murphy was too tiny to be useful. Sometimes, people just get it wrong.

Ashford apparently had a really bad junior season and his stock is likely to tank. Not sure he’s really a take at the moment.

Why did no one offer Baker??

Stetson was undersized from a small school.

And he had offers from a few G-5 schools. He chose to take a PWO from UGA.

Not sure where you’re getting info, but all of that is incorrect.

Bailey is a pure pocket passer, and Kirby wants duel threats.

Johnson is the son of Brad Johnson, nephew of Richt. I know we were after him, but Im honestly not worried that he committed to LSU. Oconee County is awful, and stats dont mean much, but he honestly doesnt look great to me. Will be a huge project wherever he goes.

Not sure if this would boost anyones confidence in QB depth but Rivals has Dwan Mathis as the #2 Dual Threat QB. He has good size but needs to bulk up over the off season. I think he reports on campus this week to start the strength and conditioning program.

Jacob Eason gained 25 pounds in no time. I'm sure by spring he will look like a grown man.
