Still trying to play catch up but here is the practice report from yesterday.

quote:

Georgia is inside Sanford Stadium Saturday for its second spring scrimmage. The intrasquad workout will conclude the Bulldogs fourth week of spring drills and we're just a week away from G-Day. Reporters were allowed to see approximately 10 minutes before the scrimmage began and below are the news and notes from the day. -

Sophomore outside linebacker Brenton Cox was back out there and practicing with the rest of that group. He hadn't been with the outside linebackers during the media-viewing periods since he and redshirt sophomore Robert Beal were arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana on April 2.

Jermaine Johnson returning from a sprained ankle, the Bulldogs now have all of their outside linebackers back. -

Sophomore safety Otis Reese was back on the practice field today but he wasn't doing anything with the defensive backs. He was watching but only had his helmet on halfway and didn't have any gloves or tape. He watched during drill work but it's a good sign that he's out there considering he was absent during Tuesday's viewing period.

- Senior defensive lineman Julian Rochester was doing some work on the side today along with fellow senior defensive lineman Michail Carter and freshmen inside linebackers Trezmen Marshall and Rian Davis. It's the first time we've spotted Rochester during a media-viewing period this spring. Kirby Smart announced prior to the start of spring drills that he would be out for all 15 practices after having knee surgery.

Carter and Marshall are dealing with shoulder ailments while Davis had ACL surgery during his senior season. -

Sophomore offensive lineman Cade Mays continues to take reps with the No. 1 unit at right guard while we are out there.

Andrew Thomas is at left tackle, Solomon Kindley at left guard, Trey Hill at center, and Isaiah Wilson at right tackle. The second unit featured D'Marcus Hayes at left tackle, Justin Shaffer at left guard, Warren Ericson at center, Ben Cleveland at right guard and Jamaree Salyer at right tackle. -

Today was the first time we've seen Demetris Robertson gets some reps in the slot. In previous media-viewing periods we have seen Kearis Jackson at that spot with a group of walk-on players. Today, Robertson took reps on the inside and Dawgs247 didn't see him get any reps on the outside. He caught the ball well from that spot but appeared to slip on an inward-cutting route that messed up the timing.

While watching the quarterbacks and receivers/tight ends, we saw Tommy Bush drop a wobbly hitch pass from D'Wan Mathis. Jake Fromm connected with Charlie Woerner on a well-thrown out route very close to the sideline. Stetson Bennett IV connected with Tyler Simmons on a deep dig route that was perfectly placed. -

As we were leaving the field, we watched what looked to be the third-team defense in a pass skeleton drill. The only guy that jump out to us in that drill was Channing Tindall because he's normally with the twos. We didn't see every member of the unit but Cox was at outside linebacker, Nate McBride was at inside linebacker with Tindall, and the safeties were Tyrique McGhee and Latavious Brini. The cornerbacks were Ameer Speed and Tyrique Stevenson.

I am starting to feel like a Bama fan....when all your Freshman and Sophomore 5*’s are repping between 2nd and 3rd string because you’re team and recruiting is so fricking beastly......mmmmm. So excited that I almost had the courage to wake up the wife for a little 1on1 time.

Richard Lecounte been reading this board and said frick all y'all. Last year 5'11 190, now 5'11 205. He is looking to have a monster year after leading the team last year in tackles. The difference this year is he won't lead the team in missed tackles. With Lecounte bulked up, Otis Reese and J.R. Reed, our secondary is in good shape.

Bulked up to 205

Our secondary next year might be the best we’ve had in a long time. Yes, we’ll miss Baker, but the mix of talent, experience and depth is insane.

I think "upper-class" matters. This is his 4th spring in the system?

Juniors tend to stand out more than under classmen (in good ways).

Yes. But still only his 3rd spring because he didn’t RS.

Spring 1 before Tr. Freshmen season
Spring 2 before Tr. Soph season
Spring 3 NOW before Tr. Jr season.
