It may be time for UGA to start investing more in track, because what this man has done is nothing short of incredible.

He just signed our best class in history, including eight of the nations best in their events. Georgia signed 14 prospects, including national high school leaders in the pole vault, heptathlon, triple jump, long jump, high jump and in the sprints.

I just thought this needed mentioning because we rarely mention track and field.

He’s about to get a new track grandstand when they tear down the current one as a part of the BM renovation they’re working on planning

Good. Ultimately, we must have a new Steg. That happens, and we dominate the planet in all things.

Good, but what do they use as a field house. Is there any sort of facilities for the men's and women's track teams, such as weight rooms, training rooms, team meeting rooms, etc. Do they just use Butts-Mehre? When they start talking about facilities expansion, it's always hard to envision where they're going to expand. We seem to be land-locked when it comes to facilities more than any other school. The baseball field also comes to mind. These other schools are building 50 million dollar baseball facilities, which only puts us further and further behind, and there is nowhere else to expand at the current Foley Field.

I thought maybe they would move the Spec-Towns track and build a better one somewhere else, and use that for a football training complex. When other schools want to expand, they just build a new complex somewhere else while we keep trying to improve existing facilities that have nowhere else to expand or improve.

Track teams have their locker rooms in Stegeman along with every other team other than football, baseball, and softball.

They workout in the weight room shared by all the teams other than football in the Stegeman practice facility

Don’t get me started on Foley. I’ve been beating that drum for years; don’t even have to expand capacity, just make standing room patio areas on top of where all the field equipment is down 3rd base line and do something similar down first base. Make the scoreboard bigger and move it to left Center and build a multi tier general seating are out in right center and make it the designated student section.

You don’t have to build a new baseball complex when you have a unique space with some history, just be imaginative with what is there. UGA is never going to match capacity with LSU, MSU, Carolina, etc and that’s fine. Make it an inviting space for the people who do come regularly and nice enough to encourage folks (mainly students) to try it out

Best possible case scenario for basketball is to get a new arena downtown within walking distance of the bars and restaurants. But that won’t ever happen so whatever.

Whatever. We need to fix it, and fix it for every sport. Period. We have the $. We just need the will, and the intelligence to do it right.

Not trying to be a hardo or whatever, but it's not fair to Petros to attribute his success to Kirby. He was here before Kirby and worked his arse off to build up our program. Kirby didn't have anything to do with it.

I don't disagree. I wasn't suggesting removing his name. I was simply thinking it would be better to build a far better facility somewhere else and re-name it Spec Towns.

Sorry for the way that sounded. I’m sure they will always keep Spec Town’s name in the mix. Was just trying to say that our program was seeded by one of the best, glad to see we have an elite program

I think they have plenty of room down S.Milledge at the soccer/softball complex. Hell, at one time Ears was mentioning that location for the football IPF.

Thank goodness that fell thru. They could build a world class facility there. Would let us get back the grass field we lost when they built the IPF at Butts-Mehre.

I saw that. In the video he wasn't just beating people, he was destroying them by 15-20 yards.

It was so nice to just walk from McWhorter to the Coleseum and then to practice and then back to McWhorter for dinner. Having stuff all over the place kinda makes me sad.

It’s kind of shitty, too, because you are literally removed from campus. All the athletic buildings are on their own island enough as it is

We all know what wags the tail tho. Hell we didn't have a Butts-Mehre complex till 12-13 years after I graduated.

The S. Milledge complex is nice and not that far outta the way.

Change is the only constant.
