OT: Anyone used a travel agent before that you would recommend?
The Mrs. and I are planning our honeymoon and we don't want any part of having to do all the work involved wiht booking all that shite so we want to hire a travel agent to do it for us. Looking online there are a frick ton of them all over the place so it's a bit overwhelming to try to narrow it down. Have any of you used one that you would recommend? I personally would kind of like one that has a local branch I can walk into and sit down with someone although that's not realy a requirement.

A buddies wife is a travel agent. She does all that stuff. katie@bluesailcruises.net

We used delta vacations since I had a shite ton of miles and only ended up coming like a grand out of pocket. You can always open a delta card, hit the minimum spend and use those 70k miles towards it.

In the time it takes you to sit down with them and figure out where you want to go....you coulda already booked your all-inclusive resort and bought the plane tickets on kayak.com

The trip involves multiple countries, multiple flights, train travel, several hotels, etc. I'd rather someone else do it.

"Hi I'd be glad to help you. Who referred you?"

"I'm not sure, it was an online referral, somewhat anonymous on a website"

"Oh OK."

"He said he's a friend of your husband."

"Oh, OK, I wonder who that could be."

"He goes by AmsterdamNYCDawg on a UGA fansite."

"Hmm, that's probably Randy. Anyway, where would you like to go?"

I think you should let us plan it.

Where would you like to go, and what is your budget?

Please kindly provide your dates of travel.

Also, do you require any special assistance such as wheelchair access or other accommodations?

I think we may end up just doing it ourselves now.

I wouldn’t use on at all. All they are going to do I should use momon do and booking.com and a few others to find what’s available and then go to the airline and hotel so they can get the commission. It won’t cost you anymore than booking the same places yourself but ther ain’t no personal touch.

I’ve had really good luck with travelosity for hotels, cruises and resorts with their name your price thing. Low ball the shite out of it and you’ll get turned down but it’ll give you an idea of which product they come back with an offer from. Go to travelocity on another page and see what price is and reduce it by 25% and make another search. It works every time. The only trouble is that when they accept you’ve bought it.

Use momondo for airfare but always check the airline before buying. Delta is almost always exactly a dollar cheaper per flight than any of the search engines.

I like to travel CHEAP!!! It’s a hobby for me. I’ve never gotten a decent flight through a travel agent.....they don’t give a shite what time the flight departs or arrives. They don’t compare airports nearby.......we flew to Ixtapa Mexico last December from Juarez Mexico for $134 round trip. Cheapest flight from anywhere in the US was over $600. There isn’t a travel agent around who’d even check because there ain’t no commission on a $134 ticket worth fricking with.

I just don’t see the point in spending time with someone who really is nothing more than a car salesman when there is the internet.
