Odds to win 2018 Heisman Trophy per Sport Betting Dime

- Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia: 10/1
- Trace McSorley, QB, Penn State: 14/1
- Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin: 14/1
- D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia: 14/1

It's great to be a Georgia Bulldog

Love the pub, but as I mentioned yesterday on SECR I would give him maybe a 1% chance at best to actually win the Heisman at any point that he's at UGA for a few reasons:

-He's simply not flashy. The Heisman these days goes to people like lamar jackson who put up highlight reel plays on sportscenter. Fromm is a more mobile version of Greene IMO; heady, gamer, checks into correct plays, won't lose you ballgames. We're going to win a ton of games with Jake but he's not gonna "WOW" many voters
-He's not going to put up eye popping stats. We're simply not going to ask him to be aaron murry back there and light up the scoreboard
-Our offense has and will continue to rely heavily on an excellent run game. With swift/zamir/cook in the fold we're going to lean on those guys a lot (especially behind our ever improving OL) which takes the ball out of fromm's hands.

Again I think it's great to see, but I'm really confused at the same time. It's also head scratching to see Jalen Hurts so high up on the list, with Tua behind him.

I could see Fromm winning the Heisman if he is able to get his completion rate up into the 70%+ range and play clutch ball in big games. We wont run the ball 70% of the time next year - I see us being a bit more balanced even if we are dominating teams like we did this year.

Swift is very talented but just not sure we will manufacture enough touches for him to win the Heisman and not sure that we even want that. Look at what Auburn did to Kerryon this year - that should be a cautionary tale for riding one player too hard. Not to mention we will have a lot of very capable players who can give Swift a breather / be change of pace.

I agree with you in general but I don't think we know if he will light up the scoreboard or not. He hasn't had to this past season because of our running game, but with Chubb and Michel gone, I wouldn't be surprised if we throw the ball around more next season, especially if Fromm makes that 2nd year leap (which in his case, might make him Superfromm) and adds a bit of arm strength. I think that 80-yard TD pass against Bama shows what he can do with the long ball, and given his football IQ and his (generally) correct reads at the line and good decision making, he could definitely be a Heisman contender. It might just depend on what Chaney does with the offense next season and how Fromm approaches the off-season.

I’m with ya. Swift has a much better chance. I don’t think we’ll have the passing stats to make him a candidate. Now Swift has all the chance in the world to show out and make the list later on
