Interesting conversation thread on another site about Bobo and the possibility of him being hired as OC. The first post was this:

"According to Swain, Pruitt offered Bobo 2 mil to come be the OC and Bobo said no. I actually believe this and I’ll tell you why. I met Pruitt his first year at UGA and he was talking about the 2012 SECCG, he said Bama D was more talented than UGA O, but said the difference was Mike Bobo, said he was the best in the biz."

and

"If offered by UGA it might be smart for Bobo to accept imo. Probably doesn't last past 2019 at Colorado St and who knows when the UGA OC position comes open again."

"Come here and look like an offensive genius. His already very good recruiting abilities will look amazing under smart. Probably get better head coaching offers in 1-3 years. Smart move imo. Worked out great for Tucker and Chaney. Both millionaires now cause they came here. With the talent we have these are two extremely desirable coordinator jobs if you want to be a head coach one day. The talent will make you look like a genius."

Click the link to see the entire thread conversation. Of course, everyone has their own opinions.

I would normally agree, but I think Bobo is a decent guy and doesn't want to leave things at CSU the way they are right now.

He might struggle again, but any coach thinks they're going to turn the ship around. I fully expect him to stay and then end up at Bama or somewhere else in the SEC next season as an OC if things don't improve in Fort Collins.

I actually think bobo would be a slam dunk, but I just don't see him stepping down to take an OC job....has that happened before? A head coach stepping down to a coordinator role?

this is how I feel. I truly think bobo was one of the two best OCs we've had in history and there's no reason why we shouldn't rejoice to have him, but I don't see a guy leaving a HC position to take a coordinator position.

If that were to happen it would take A LOT of money, and the pull of going back to his alma mater to coach with his college buddy.

I dont think I have ever seen it happen unless its for an NFL coaching position. But if Kirby does send him an offer, I think he may be willing to go home to UGA. And it would also depend on $$. How much is he making at C-State and how much would UGA offer him for the OC position? But I think Coley is going to get the job for now and then if things dont work out, they can go after Mike to take over. Everything is speculation right now and I guess we will all find out soon (I hope).

I did just read were Bobo turned down $100,000 raise at CSU, so maybe there is some validity that UGA would go after him, but reading the article it seems Bobo didn't want to take the money since he did not live up to his end of the deal.

Dan Enos did it when he left Central Michigan for Arkansas. He was not fired at CMU.

maybe

but does he want to come home?

seems like he did not really want to leave in the 1st place, but Richt could not get authorization to make him the right offer & he felt pushed out the door

and OC at UGA seems to be an equal job as head coach at CSU, or at least pretty close

unfortunately, i think you are correct

I'd love to have him back

While I would love to get Bobo back, the offer from Kirby would be awkward. “Hey buddy, everyone knows things are going to shite for you in CO, so why don’t you bite the bullet and come back home. There’s no way you’re turning that thing around”. The relationship would be somewhat awkward after that.

what? You don't think a more realistic scenario would be "hey buddy, you set records here at UGA and are one of the best OCs in school history so we'd love to have you back"?

I don’t believe for a second that Bobo turned down $100k just because he felt bad for not having success. It would’ve been for some other reason in the contract that went along with the raise. No one turns down a raise just ‘cause. That’s silly.

Doubt Bobo comes back, he has the stench of Richt mediocrity all over him and I don't want that element back in the program.

I hope we give serious consideration to Major Applewhite. Houston had a top 10 offense this year and it gives us a recruiting foothold in Texas. If we do that though, that means Coley is gone next year and we probably can't afford that. I just talked myself out of Applewhite, we should just promote Coley or he's going to bolt.

How about, "Hey, buddy. Come home for a couple of years and help us while you get your health issues straightened out. In a couple of years you will be ready to take a top HC job again. UGA and I need your help winning the NC."

I would love to have Bobo back, but he would have to make Smart let run the offense with no interference. That's one reason Chaney was willing to listen to another offer.

We need an OC that is clutch. Bobo runs up amazing stats but like Cheney, maybe over thinks things when the game is on the line. The balance for the sake of balance thing drives me nuts. If the run game is there, take it.

He had grown into an exceptional OC and he did it without PittBoss’ o-lines. We would rock & roll with Mike.

ETA: Plus he’s a great recruiter with deep ties in-state.

I thought alot of Bobo's offense revolved around having smaller quicker lineman to be used for pull blocking. If so how would that workout with the behemoths we have up front now?

That was just something Jefferson Dawg made up when it became apparent that Kirby/Pittman were recruiting linement better than Richt/Bobo/Friend.
