Well, I guess we'll never know how much our defensive success can be attributed to him, or Kirby, or our talent, etc. but I think we'll be fine without him is my guess. Opens the door for a young, hungry guy like Schumann to take over.

With that being said, why do guys like Tucker take jobs at subpar programs? He has literally no shot at winning, he's not going to convince anyone to go there. He's going to spend a few years up there, not meet expectations and then be in a worse position than he's in now. He'll probably end up coaching linebackers for the Texans or something like that.

Athens is great, you get paid a ton, you get to coach in meaningful, exciting games with big stakes. Why are you leaving to go to Colorado where no one cares and you'll never achieve anything?! smh

We'll find out how much of it was Tucker next year.

Because it's a P5 head coaching job and Tucker's name isn't going to get stronger than it is right now.

Ehh, the PAC-12 is the shittiest of the P5 conferences, so he has a better shot than I think you're giving him.

Colorado isn't as bad of a program as you think it is.

No, they aren't what they were during the late 80s/early 90s but didn't they win 10 games and play for the Pac-12 championship just a few years ago?

There is no downside for Tucker. Like you said, he doubles his salary, is in a conference where he has at least a chance to be successful and gets to live in an awesome place.

If it all goes to hell, Tucker can always come back and be a DC for a top 10 team - generally being an unsuccessful head coach doesn’t diminish a football coaches reputation as a coordinator.

If Mike Bobo ever gets fired at Colorado State, I would expect an SEC team to snatch him up as an OC.

Mel is taking the Kirby Smart formula out west to a division that's about on par with the 2016 SEC East.

It may take a few years but if he's able to pull a few key recruits mixed with some solid grad transfers, he could have Colorado looking like the "Georgia of the west".

He gets some food assistance and he can do a very good job there in that conference. With his defensive experience he better get a guy that can run an offense.

Don't you mean WHEN Bobo gets fired at Colorado State?

I forgot who I was listening to but he shared this:

"When Kirby would jump in and give a talk to the defense, during timeouts, Tucker would just move to the side and let Kirby have his say. He didn't get his feelings hurt, he just let Kirby do what he need to. The next DC will need to be the same way because Kirby will always be involved in the defense"

Pittman isn't going anywhere. He has already stated he will retire at UGA. Why go anywhere when you can get any o-line recruit you want here at UGA? Also no other school is going to give him an offer we cant beat.

He's the real MVP for this offensive coaching staff. We can do anything with the big uglies he's bringing in and coaching up.

Not sure i agree with you on this. Years ago (late 80's and early 90"s) Colorado had a pretty good program. It was doing very well. Obviously it didn't continue, and it is a difficult place to coach, but he will be in a weak PAC 12, so if he can just do well enough to contend there, he could possibly use it as a stepping stone. And, you could do a lot worse than Colorado in the winter time for mountains and skiing.

Yeah, but that was a long time ago and they haven't been relevant since. In fact, that haven't even been good. They've had two good years in the last 20, or what I would call good years. They won nothing of any real consequence either of those two years. I have more faith in Nebraska being relevant again than Colorado, and I'm not even sure of that.
