I was watching one of the post game interview where the reported asked Roquan and Sony if Lorenzo Carter is the 2nd fastest player on the team.....and they both confirmed.

Now...I'm no football expert, but that's really suprising that LC is the 2nd fastest.

Do y'all think this is accurate? if so who do y'all think is the fastest? Mecole looks really fast out there.

It depends on how short/long the race is.

Long legs and long stride... I can see Lorenzo carter beating a lot of guys in 40+

I would be shocked if he is. I highly doubt it. I have n doubt he is very, very fast, but not second fastest.

"You hear that NFL scouts??"

No chance....

Swift has to be faster. What happened to #16? Wasn't he supposed to be faster than shite?

If you lined them up on a track, I doubt anybody outruns Eric Stokes. In pads harder to tell, but I'd say Stokes, Hardman, Speed, Simmons, McBride would all be faster than Lorenzo Carter. Probably others too, including a couple of the RB's and another WR or two. Hopefully some of the other DB's too.

Yeah. Forget what that crazy arse Michel and Roquan say. Like they would know anyway. We definitely have a better handle on this than his teammates.

All of the guys I listed ran 100 meters track timed in high school comfortably under 11 seconds. Stokes ran a 10.40 at state, where he won his class, and had several other comparable times. McBride ran a 10.71 PR and several comparable times, and also took first in his class in state. Deandre Baker had a PR of 10.83, and several other comparable times (and a 21.74 PR in the 200, 5th in state). Tyler Simmons had a 10.6 PR, 4th in state, and several comparable times, plus a 21.37 200 meter PR. Ameer Speed ran a 10.39 at a meet last spring (probably not accurate), but also has multiple times in the 10.6, 10.7 range, plus a 21.42 200 meter. Mecole Hardman won his region with a 10.64, 2nd in state with a 10.74. Nick Chubb has a 10.69 PR to place 2nd in his region, probably not as fast now but probably still faster than LCarter. Jason Stanley 10.83 PR, etc., etc., etc.

Lorezo Carter ran a PR 11.30 100 meters in high school, 22.72 in the 200. Things change in college, but not that much. With all due respect to Sony and Roquan, Lorenzo is nowhere close to the 2nd fastest guy on this team, at any distance.

A friend of mine said he got freak of the week because it was about top speed where he was second fastest. I can’t remember who awards that, but that was a buddy that said that to me last week. So also hearing people from the team say it would be a pretty big coincidence if not true

Top end speed translates to track times at some distance, which is why Usain Bolt holds both the 100 meter record and the fastest recorded top end speed. Carter's best time even in the 200 (longer race which gives more time at top speed) was 1 - 1.5 seconds slower than several of the guys above, and half to nearly one second slower in the 100 meter. I don't see any way he's second fastest in top end speed or over any distance.

Meh. I don’t disagree. Maybe it was just on the field that day. Just throwing out what I heard

He could very well be 2nd fastest in pads. Some folks speed doesn’t translate well under any sort of encumbrance.

The problem is that the coaches know who is the fastest on the football field .

All of the players are fitted with the GPS trackers. The data is the data.

My guess is that they are measuring football speed. Not 100 and 200 meters straight. And long strides can cover a lot of ground in a quick amount of time.

My guess is that the data is bad and bad data is bad data. They didn't catch the faster players at their max or didn't even measure them. Long legs are fine, but Lorenzo Carter is not going to exceed the top end speed, football speed, track speed or any other kind of speed of those guys I listed above. They were among the fastest in their regions and states across a variety of distances that are long enough to lessen the impact of a slow starter. That means they have top end speed to burn and it was proven in a much more rigorous setting than a football practice.

If it makes the fans happy to think we have some kind of superhuman freak playing linebacker, 6'5", 245 and runs like the Flash, good for you. But he's not going to run down these 180 - 210 lb speedsters on or off the field, because he's not as fast as they are top end, bottom end, with or without pads.

If I am not mistaking. When they did the freak of the week, it said that he was on gps running over 22 mph. They said that was the second fastest on the team.

Well, that makes us slower than teams like Tennessee, which is not a fast team, IF Lorenzo is the 2nd fastest player. But he's not.
