that's your criteria for jersey retirement? If that's the case then 10 years from now we won't even be able to field a team since all the numbers would be unavailable. Kirby did have a good bit of interceptions but so did dom sanders and bacarri rambo but we aren't retiring them. Kirby was all sec one time but was never an All American and the best bowl his teams played in was the outback.
Sorry but that's not worthy of being retired. C'mon.

If Kirby wins a natty, they can retire the visor he wears when he wins it.

And I hope you dont speak and treat all women like your comments stated because no woman would put up with that shite. Quit being childish and grow up - Its fricking football for pete's sake.
I just call it as I see it, it has nothing to do with the fact you're a woman. Fin and Belle have been on here for years and I've never called them out, because they've never been an annoying, C&P, " ohh I didn't know that" poster. If you were a guy I'd treat you the exact same way, that's what yall want anyways isnt it?

I'm on board wiht this. And even then it would have to be someone transcendent, jersey retiring in CFB kind of seems like something from yesteryear and not nearly as commonplace today. I'm perfectly fine wiht the 4 we've got but I'm not in a rush to add another.
Let's say for example we had won it all in '17...I don't necessarily think 27 or 1 should have been retired. I dont' really even have a reaon either, I mean Chubb would have stayed 4 years and set all kinds of records and won a natty but Idk, somethign I can't really put my finger on.

Retiring jersey numbers is stupid and lame, imo.
I always liked how Steve Spurrier un-retired his own jersey number when he became coach at Florida to let his players wear it if they wanted to. And Spurrier is one of the most arrogant people to ever live, so if he can recognize how frivolous and lame something is, then it should be pretty obvious to normal people.
And another thing I don't understand is why Kirby and other coaches actually allow more than one player to share the same number on the same team. It's almost like youre trying to encourage premadonnas and are trying to teach them shitty priorities.
Jersey numbers are a meaningless clerical detail for coaches, officials, and program publishers to deal with. Nothing more. Who gives a shite.

Recruiting is why Kirby does anything....that and winning.

We were actually penalized for having two of these dipshits on the field with same number at the same time last year. I forget which game.
Yay! Winning!
Yay! Winning!

Generally agree, but sometimes a number will become inextricably linked with a particular player, even in the minds of people who don't really follow the sport. For example, NASCAR had 3, the NHL had 99, and the NBA had 23. It's rare, but it does happen now and again.
Of course, it also changes over time. In another ten years or so, 3, 99, and 23 probably won't mean anything anymore (for baseball, casual fans/non-fans no longer associate 3 with Babe Ruth, for example) but maybe new numbers will have replaced them.

47 Pollack would be the only one so far worthy of retirement.

Just my opinion but I think that Pollack's 47 should've been retired by now. The SEC did their All 75th anniversary team. There were only two defensive ends on there - Reggie White and mother trucking David Pollack.
I know that there are an inordinate amount of young Dawg fans on this board who have only heard about Pollack and only know Pollack as an ESPN television clown. If you're under the age 25, you might remember bits and pieces of watching David Pollack play, but you're not old enough to have real context. But David Pollack was ridiculous. Quickest first step and best leverage ever. Being in Sanford Stadium back then, he stood out on a defense packed with NFL players.
David Pollack was the man. He was a transcendent breakout player and the best player and motivational leader of the 2002 team that finally broke the SEC championship drought. The 90s were brutal. Then came early Richt and David Pollack. That 2002 SEC championship game was still the most satisfying Dawg game and Dawg victory of my lifetime. It meant a lan awful lot to Georgia fans at the time.
