Isn't getting the ball even though all pre-season the entire defense gushed about him and how unstoppable he can be.
Not one carry, not even a toss sweep to see if he can get us anything on the edge
Just like Fields, why'd we recruit the kid if we aren't going to utilize his specific skill set?

total plays in the sec
Every body needs the ball more.
But we dont run a ton of plays.
So... things arent going to change much week to week.
For those afraid of links, we average about 65 plays a game. That ranks 13th in the conference. Several teams lead the conference around 75 plays a game.
If we want more plays, then players need to step up and convert more 3rd downs. If Pickens wants more plays, hold onto the ball when it hits your hand(s). No one gets more plays when we are kicking/punting.

After Next game:
Jodeaux - “Why don’t we throw it more and stop handing the ball off to our 3rd and 4th string running backs.....”

But if we ran Cook more then we'd have more plays.

Sarcasm font was on.
Cook does lead the RBs in yards per touch, and we utilize him right when/where we need to.
It’s all about the reads when he’s in the game too. Fromm might check to pass a lot whenever Cook is in because of the stacked box with a LB spy due to his ability to catch....

Not meaning to knock on Cook, but traditionally, he is getting his explosive plays against the sisters of the poor. That rang true for 2018. It appears to be true for 2019.
He might be the type of back who needs more touches to hit those explosive plays.
But hes the 4th string tailback and 3rd/4th string slot. I dont see him getting his number called more than the 7 players ahead of him.

I could see him being effective in the iMac/Mecole role if the coaches could just find a full-time position for him.
He isn't getting any carries at RB and most of the touches he's seen from the slot have been swing passes and motion sweeps. Right now, he's a gadget player but I'd love to see him become a dependable receiving threat.

Not one carry from the rb position this year is pretty mind blowing.

Is this sarcasm? He has rushing stats.

It's just frustrating that Kirby can't think of ways to get our most explosive running back the ball. Look, let's be honest here, Swift has been good this year but it's not like he's setting the world on fire. Maybe giving cook at least 2 touches to see if he's effective wouldn't hurt. It's like checking to see if a shooter in basketball is having an "on" night.
Kirby has no feel for how to manage an offense and has no offensive instincts. He's too rigid, cautious and predictable.

Bingo! I could see him being more effective in that area

He'll get more reps when Herrien and Swift leaves this year.
